Why iPads?

The iPad belongs to the school.You get to use it.

Just like a textbook, it is yours to use and you are responsible.

iPads are an expensive educational tool.

All computer use rules apply to iPads.

We are trusting you with it.

Internet Safety and CIPA• Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA)

• All iPads have an internet filter at school.

• Parents need to monitor access at home.

iPad Care, Use and Protection#1 The iPad is loaned to each student for the school year. It must be returned in good condition at the end of the school year or when a student leaves USD 286.

#2 The student will be charged for the full cost of the iPad, protective case, and /or charging device if these are not returned. The District will withhold grades, diploma, and transcripts from the student and parent/guardian until reparation is made.Cost = $438

#3 The student is responsible for loss or any damage to his/her iPad, iPad case, and/or iPad charging device, just as he/she is responsible for the care of textbooks and other school property.

Repair cost = $100+

#4 Students must bring his/her iPad to school every day fully charged.

#5 Students may only use their own Apple ID.

#6 Student may only download approved apps. These are apps approved by the teacher or any app on the Self Service app.

IMPORTANT!

#7 Students may NOT install or uninstall profiles.

#8 iPads must be locked in P.E. locker during Physical Education class and sports

#9 iPads are for the use of the student to whom it is issued. The iPad should not be used by siblings or friends.

# 10 Use only a clean, soft, lint-free cloth to clean the screen. Do not use aerosol sprays, solvents, or cleansers of any type. Abrasive cloths, towels, paper towels, and similar items may cause damage to the iPad.

#11 Keep food and liquid away from your iPad, since these might damage the device.

#12 iPads must always be in the school approved protective case. The iPad, in it’s case, must always be carried in the student’s backpack.

#13 The iPad and case must be free from stickers, writing, or any other thing that defaces or damages the device or case.

#14 Cords and cables must be carefully inserted into the iPad to prevent damage.

#15 iPads must never be left in an unlocked car or any unsupervised area.

ALERT!! Students must immediately notify

the school office if their iPad is damaged or lost.

Rules for Your iPad

In the classroom, the iPad is a tool for learning.• The teacher is the learning leader and directs the use of

classroom resources, including the iPad.• Students are to follow teacher directions.

In the classroom…

• When an iPad is not being used in class or the teacher has asked for them to be turned off, the iPad MUST be turned off.

Student are to be using only the apps or accessing sites teachers have directed them to during class time.

Inappropriate use in class or on campus

• 1st time- conference in office, parent contact, after school detention

• 2nd time- parent conference in office and Friday School• 3rd time- parent conference in office, day use only for 2 weeks• 4th time- parent conference in office, day use contract, period to

be determined based on the severity of the offence

If you remove the student profile or tamper with the security settings, you will lose personal iPad privileges for the remainder of the semester.
