The Story of Securitas Egypt: Second Step

August 2008; an acquisition between Securitas and GPS was finalized, and Securitas

Egypt became a new addition to the Securitas Family, and to the Security Industry in Egypt.

The Vision was, and still is clear:

Security Market in Egypt

Pre-Revolution: Security was not an issue in Egypt before January 2011; crime was mainly seen

around the tourist sites, and related to petty theft and minor acts of crime; hence

Security was a post far down in the budget; needed but not prioritized.

Security was based on Manpower; Static Guards in uniform standing outside the

office; low salary, high turnover and not deemed a respectable career.

25th January it all changed: Revolution started. The following weeks

we witnessed something we never

thought would be possible; looting,

shooting in the streets, 21,000 criminals

escaped from nine Egyptian prisons,

crime sky rocketed, and crimes such

as shootings, armed robberies

and theft became daily events.

Following Revolution; security went from low priority to top priority, and

the market changed accordingly;

followed by a Survey Report which recommends Securitas security design;

always is a combination of Manpower, Physical Security, Processes and

Procedures.

Each Customer is unique; each site has different risks and requirements;

which is why Surveys are standard for all sites; and re-surveys are being

performed quarterly

Recruitment- Right Guard for the Right Job

Minimum height of 170 cm.

Candidates must be healthy with no medical problems

Candidate must be able to obtain police clearance certificate; criminal and state security checks

are performed prior to deployment

Aged between 22 and 45 years at deployment, good appearance and physically fit

Minimum High school certificate or equivalent, preferably university graduates.

Preferably candidates with previous experience in the military, police or private security

Securitas Human Resources Department ensures recruitment through pre-set

criteria. All guards and force has to go through an extensive vetting process, and the

following are the basic criteria:

Securitas agrees recruitment criteria with each customer,

ensuring the correct fit with the actual site requirements, and

offers the customer the opportunity to be a part of the process

if required.

Induction Training

All new staff undergoes induction training to provide them with an understanding of

the Company, the services it provides and the requirements of their appointment.

Security Officers attends a course called Basic Security Training course,

this course covers the following:

Guarding

Access and Egress Control

Communicating, Reporting and Record Keeping

Patrolling .

Roles and Responsibilities of Security Guards.

Searching

Technology and Systems - CCTV).

An annual training plan will be prepared, and this is revised quarterly in cooperation

with customer. Training takes place mainly on-site, at the first week of each month.

Training courses shall include ( for example and not limited to):

Fire fighting

First aid

Detailed search procedures;

Any other specific courses required by the client

All training is customized to the needs of the customer, such as:

Black Suits are being used for Offices and Embassies

On-Demand Services

Securitas offers a range of services on a temporary basis, and this has increased

following the 2 Revolutions and the current unstable climate in Egypt:

Closed Protection Service

Escorting to and from Airport and hotel

Escorting to and from high risk areas- day trips or overnight trips

This service can be provided with or without a vehicle, and both the officers and the

vehicle is unmarked, to avoid attracting any attention. We provide both English and non-

English speaking officers,

Body guard Service

Requests for bodyguards has increased in line with the crime rate, and Securitas

provides this per day, week or months, and we have bodyguards at different levels and

categories, depending on the needs of the customers.

Mission Support

Securitas is increasingly supporting companies in missions; where security is needed for

surveys or other functions in remote or high risk areas. We can provide vehicles, guards,

Radios, other equipment and each Mission is unique, tailored to the specific needs of the

customer.
