Essential Questions
• What is a sectional?
• How do I read a sectional?
• What can a sectional tell me about my location?
• How can sectionals be helpful during VFR?
![Page 3: Sectionals (Groups B/D)](https://reader035.vdocuments.mx/reader035/viewer/2022062513/55622c7bd8b42ad44d8b56d9/html5/thumbnails/3.jpg)
What is a sectional?
• equivalent of a road map for cars; shows you where airports are, lakes, roads, power lines, etc.
• used for VFR only (there are different charts for IFR)
![Page 4: Sectionals (Groups B/D)](https://reader035.vdocuments.mx/reader035/viewer/2022062513/55622c7bd8b42ad44d8b56d9/html5/thumbnails/4.jpg)
What does a sectional tell us?

Towered or not?
Blue-colored airports are towered or controlled.
All other colored airports are untowered, or uncontrolled.

Quiz Time!!!
• Observe the following airport data. What is the control tower frequency for Hartsfield? Hint – Hartsfield is the busiest airport in the world.
NO SVFRHARTSFIELD-JACKSON ATLANTA INTL (ATL)CT – 119.1 119.3 119.5 123.85 125.325
ATIS 119.651026 L 119 122.95
All five frequencies can be considered control tower frequencies. Why? Because each runway has its own frequency. That’s how busy Hartsfield is. Refer to your A/FD for more information.
