What is a “legend”? Mr.Webster says, “It’s a story or groupof stories, handed down for genera-tions...believed to have a historicalbasis, but not verifiable.” That’sgood enough, and gives us a lot oflatitude. Carmel is a fountain of leg-ends. Legends of people, of places,of events that may or may not havehappened exactly as we relate them.Over the next few weeks, and hope-fully years, we will be documentinglegends of Carmel. You will hearabout special people who lived hereand placed their stamp on thisunique village. You’ll hear about thehouses they lived in, the specialatmosphere they created, the inven-tive ways in which they made theirnests. You’ll hear about the unortho-dox things they did, the brave ven-tures they undertook, the stupidlosses and the exciting victories. Inits relatively short history, less than100 years, Carmel has contributedmore than its share to the lore of ourcountry. We think you’ll enjoy thisspace each week. But we warn you:don’t believe everything you read.
Neatly sited on an oversized Scenic Road lot on Carmel’s balcony to the Pacific, this 3bedroom, 2.5 bath 2,900 sq. ft. home with 2-cargarage is truly unique. With large ocean-view gourmet kitchen, limestone decks and gated entry …this residence has it all. This spectacu-lar home allows views from Carmel Point, along the surf-line of Carmel Bay and on to Pebble Beach. Come; enjoy a stroll along the Pacificwith a spectacular sunset as your backdrop, for you are …living the good life…in Carmel. $7,200,000
