IEC CONFIGURATIONS MAKE SAFE CONNECTIONS AS EASY AS CLOCKWORKBryant’s Pin & Sleeve line safeguards againstmismating devices of different amperage and voltage ratings. Conformance with IEC 309-1 andIEC 309-2 international standards results in asingly-rated, non-interchangeable configuration foreach amperage/voltage type.A housing size has been specified for each amperage rating. The voltage rating can beidentified by the clock position of the femalegrounding contact relative to the housing keyway.With the keyway always positioned at 6 o’clock, thefemale grounding contact is located at a specificclock position for each voltage rating. For example,the female grounding contact for a 125V device islocated at the 4 o’clock position. The location of thecorresponding male pin is a mirror image of thefemale device and is located at the 8 o’clock position. In addition, device housings are color-coded by voltage rating for easy identification(see clock chart at right).

These situations require deviceswhich can withstand impact from handling and fluc-tuations in heat and cold without interruption of

performance. The Splashproof series lives up to thechallenge. Available in 16 and 32A, our splash-proof devices meet IEC 309-1 and IEC 309-2 stan-dards, resulting in singly rated, non-interchange-able configurations. They comply with VDE and CErequirements and have a moisture resistancerating of IP44. Heavy-Duty Construction for Demanding ApplicationsBryant’s rugged new mechanical interlocks combine the safety of a discon-

nect switch and IEC 309 pin and sleeve receptacle in one compact nonmetallicenclosure. Designed to meet the National Electrical Code requirements for aseparate disconnect means within sight of all motor loads, the enclosuresprovide ON/OFF switched control of a plug connected load. The interlockingfeature prevents the plug from being disconnected while the receptacle is ener-gized. The switch cannot be turned ON until the plug is properly inserted. Theplug can not be removed until the switch is turned OFF. Durable, watertight and

corrosion-resistant, these interlocks are IP67 rated and may be locked out as amethod of compliance with OSHA Lockout/Tagout regulations. Bryant mechani-cal interlocks are available in 20, 30, 60 and 100 amp ratings and 3, 4 or 5 wireconfigurations.
