Attention:
At the end of Secondary 2, all students will take part in the Online Subject Combination Exercise to pursue a particular course from Secondary 3 to Secondary 4/5.

Important information for all Normal Academic (NA)
1. Out-of-Stream Subjects (OSS)* that are currently offered are EnglishLanguage, Mother Tongue, Mathematics and Science
– NA students are eligible to take the OSS subjects, subjects at higher levelif they meet the school-based criteria of 75% or better for the subject(overall) and 60% or better for overall %.
– These students can take up to a maximum of 3 OSS subjects.
2. For current SBB students who are taking higher level subject(s),
– NA offering Exp would need to score 50% or better for the higher levelsubject to be eligible for the OSS in Secondary 3
* OSS are offering of subjects at a higher level, for example NA students offering Exp Math orNT students offering NA EL.

Important information for all Normal Technical (NT)
1. Out-of-Stream Subjects (OSS)* that are currently offered are English Language,Mother Tongue, Mathematics and Science
– NT students are eligible to take the OSS subjects, subjects at higher level if theymeet the school-based criteria of 75% or better for the subject (overall) and 60%or better for overall % for all subjects.
– Each students can take up to a maximum of 3 OSS subjects.
2. For existing SBB students, they will continue with the corresponding
higher level subjects at upper secondary to further deepen their content
and skills mastery in those subject as long at they score 60% or better for the
subject at the end of secondary 2.
3. For Non- SBB students who qualify for out-of-stream subjects, they will still need
to choose a subject combination. The school will engage the students/parents
based on their decision on out-of-stream subject thereafter. To qualify for out of
stream subjects, the student will need to score at least 75% for overall.
Factors for parents to consider when selecting subject combinations
• Discuss with your child.
• Do not decide for your child.
• Select a subject combination according to your child’s
ability and interest so that he/she can do well and
move onto a course of his/her choice in Post
Secondary Education.

• Survey was conducted for the mixed stream Sec 2 classes during the period of 31 May 2021 – 4 June 2021
• The survey was conducted via SLS.

Process of Subject Combination Allocation
• Allocation of subject combination will be based on the principles of: Merit
Vacancy
Choice
• Being eligible for a particular course does not guaranteeyour child will be offered the course. It depends on thevacancy that the particular course has.
(e.g. 20 vacancies for Art/Design & Technology/Nutrition &Food Science.
Process of Subject Combination Allocation
• In the event there is a high demand for a certaincombination, vacancies will be filled according to the orderof merit.
• There must be a critical mass for a subject combination tobe offered.
• The Subject Combination Exercise in October will be basedon the Overall results and not just on the End-of-YearExamination results.

• Deadline for Actual Subject Combination registration is on 5pm, 1 Nov (Mon). Results for Subject Combination allocation is on 5 Nov, 1 pm.
• Appeal period is from 5 Nov to 8 Nov • Students who did not submit their combinations successfully will be assigned a subject
combination based on vacancies.
