How to be better prepared?

Listen out for national and local advice and guidance. Look out for weather bulletins, traffic warnings, and news alerts from the emergency services about travel (road, rail, air and sea).Even though you might be worried or scared, you need to follow the advice from the professionals. If they tell you to leave the house, then you need to do it, even if it goes against your instinct.
