In collaboration with masons, students design and build a masonry structure. Each arch was constructed following two different patterns, creating the rigid interior. The exterior remains smooth in contrast to the interior. The patterns of the bricks create a series of acoustic tiles. A manifesto is displayed at the end of the build atop of a cradled construct-ed with recycled bricks from the build.

Generational SpecificityThe amount of privacy an apartment receivescorresponds with the age of the tenant.

The circulation throughout each floor varies to create a labyrinth effect. Each floor has a different route ofcirculation.

Gardens receive light through tunnels that extend from the bottom floor up through the roof of thebuilding.

The building is partially underground, making it muchshorter than the surrounding buildings. This provides privacy and is somewhat hidden from the rest ofthe city.

Green SpacePublic gardens provide green space for an area that is lacking them. It turns the space between the Paranoid housing and the neighboring buildings into communal space.

BuryingStorage and gardens are buried into the nooks left by the maze-like circulation. Because of this, it is hard to determine where secret spaces are.

  • Paranoid Iteration36 manifestations of the original prototype were created using Rhino. A series of words were picked at random and the new manifestations was meant to act like said words. For example, if a word was sponge, the prototype was changed to act and/or look like a sponge.
