March CAP Sessions Announced The Office of Safe Environment for Children, Youth

and Adults is arranging several more CAP sessions. The CAP (Child Assault Prevention Program) sessions are part of the Diocese of Camden’s program of prevention under the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People. These sessions teach attendees the mechanics of reporting child physical and sexual abuse as well as bullying concepts and how to help children feel safe, strong and free.

Over the past years, there have been many of these sessions already offered throughout the diocese. The Diocese of Camden requires all adults in regular contact with children to attend one of the sessions. Diocesan Policy requires adults to attend once every five years.

The following sessions will be offered in March:

1. Tuesday, March 13, 2007, 7:00 PM, Queen of Apostles, Pennsville, Conference Room, 856-678-5400

2. Wednesday, March 14, 2007, 7:30 PM, Holy Name of Jesus, Mullica Hill, Parish Center, 856-478-2294

3. Thursday, March 22, 2007, 7:00 PM, Christ the King, Haddonfield, Church-Lower Level, 856-429-1600

To attend one of these classes, please call the CAP registration line in the Office of Safe Environment for Children, Youth and Adults at (856) 583-6165 or email [email protected] to register. Please register at least five days before the session you would like to attend.

In the event of inclement weather, please call the location the day of the session

to see if the session is still being held. The telephone numbers of each Rectory Office are listed above.

This is My Beloved Son, hear ye Him.

Lenten Reflection #2 Second Sunday of Lent

Matthew 17, 1-9

Today’s Gospel tells of the Transfiguration of Jesus. Jesus takes the Apostles Peter, James and John up to a high mountain where they witness His transfiguration: His face shines like the sun and His garments become white like the snow. Moses and Elias, who represent the law and the prophets, appear and bear witness to the divinity of Jesus. A brilliant cloud overshadows them and the voice of God the Father is heard saying: “This is My Beloved Son, in Whom I am well pleased: Hear ye Him.” Matthew’s Gospel is read on the Second Sunday of Lent and on the Feast of the Transfiguration, August 6th. During Lent, the Transfiguration foretells the glory of the Lord as God, and His Ascension into Heaven. But first is the Passion: as we prepare ourselves for the most holy week of the year, let us meditate upon this Gospel. Do we hear Him? And in hearing, do we act? Are we guided in our daily lives by the teachings of our Lord?
