MISSION STATEMENT AD INTRA (for ourselves):

To deepen our experience of Jesus Christ through a vibrant

sacramental life and our common liturgical worship. AD EXTRA (to the world):

To reach our vocational fulfillment individually and as a

community by engaging our neighbor with the Gospel Message.

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK—DEL ESCRITORIO DEL PASTOR 2

The World in View from a Believer’s Perspective

A t the Riparian Reserve hummingbirds abound.

They’re hard to catch, not only in a net but on film.

As I tried to remain hidden behind the brush

waiting for its return, I thought of its incessant

activity, always beating its wings, flying to and fro, and never

posing on a branch for more than a few seconds. Our fast-paced

lives can mimic the life of these flying jewels if we’re not too

careful. We’ve got time for everything requiring our business,

but no time to rest, and by rest, I mean resting in the Lord

through prayer.

The Chaplet of Divine Mercy is precisely one of those activities

meant to slow us down and be more mindful of the Presence of

God. For those of you who don’t know how to pray it, it’s much

shorter than the Rosary, and yet you need the rosary beads to

pray it well. God gave us some extraordinary promises through

Sister Faustina of Poland to those who pray it with devotion.

Here’s an excerpt of those promise I found on-line:

Encourage souls to say the Chaplet which I have given you…

Whoever will recite it will receive great mercy at the hour of

death… When they say this Chaplet in the presence of the

dying, I will stand between My Father and the dying person,

not as the just Judge but as the Merciful Savior… Priests will

recommend it to sinners as their last hope of salvation. Even if

they were a sinner most hardened, if he were to recite this

Chaplet only once, he would receive grace from My infinite

mercy… I desire to grant unimaginable graces to those souls

who trust in My mercy… Through the Chaplet you will obtain

everything, if what you ask for is compatible with My will.

Saint John Paul II was a huge devotee of the Chaplet. After one

click on a YouTube video on how to pray the Chaplet, you’ll

discover how easy it is to learn.

Your Pastor, Fr. Larry

voladoras si no tenemos cuidado.

infinita misericordia…Deseo otorgar gracias inimaginables a

What is "right" and "wrong?"

● Is what’s right for you right for me?

● Is there a right and wrong for everyone, all the time?

These are difficult questions to discuss in our culture. We live

in a society that supports the opinion that each person should

make up his or her own morality—that there is no moral truth

that applies to everyone. Many of us have been affected by

the relativistic outlook that pervades the modern world.

Maybe some of us wonder whether there really is an absolute

right and wrong for everyone. Or maybe we accept that there

is a moral standard for all, but we don’t know how to explain

our moral convictions in a convincing way. Maybe some of us

are afraid of saying something is immoral because we’re

afraid of offending others or of being labeled intolerant. How

do we talk about morality in a relativistic world? Join us for an

8 week program. Well explore the classical view of morality

and find that I’s merely a set of guiding principles for

theoretical situations—it is an entire way of life.

At each gathering we will review a video

featuring Dr. Edward Sri and then enter into

group discussion and reflection. Further study

can be done using the book.

Books can be purchased at the first class.

Participant study guides will be provided at all

sessions. Donations to cover the cost of

materials is greatly appreciated.

The caregiving journey can become

overwhelming for new caregivers

when they realize just how much

needs to be done for their loved

ones especially when they do not

live with their care receivers. How

do I find out which health

insurance/Medicare benefits my loved one is eligible to

receive? How do I arrange for my loved one to receive home-

delivered meals? How do I find a caregiver to help my loved

one with bathing and dressing? How do I arrange for my loved

one to get to doctor appointments? All these questions have

answers. Finding the way to the answers can be very

challenging. One excellent resource is the Phoenix Area

Agency on Aging which publishes the Elder Resource Guide

that provides phone numbers and websites to lead you to the

answers you need. You can access the Guide by going to their

website at www.aaaphx.org/program-services/. Scroll down

the page and click on “Elder Resource Guide”. If you are short

on time, just call the Agency’s 24-hour Senior HELP line

at .602-264-HELP (4357) and you will be connected to the

resources that can help you.

Another great resource for caregivers is caregivers’ support

groups. Join us at either or both of our support groups this

month and pick up some caregiving tips while you share your

caregiving journey with other caregivers. We will be meeting

on Wednesday, April 11, 2:30 p.m. in classrooms 1-2 at

Mountain Vista Medical Center on the southeast corner of

Crismon and Southern in Mesa and again on Thursday, April

26 at 1:30 p.m. in classroom J here at Holy Cross Parish.

For questions about caregiving support groups, contact

parishioner Evelyn Sanchez at 602-882-5197.

organizaciones provean servicios y recursos críticos a nuestras

Iglesia. Gracias por su ayuda a la CDA. Sociedad de San Vicente de Paul
