Good People of Holy Cross, Welcome to flight 2018. As we prepare for take-off into the New Year, please make sure your standards are secured and locked in an upright position. All negative situations and people should be turned off at this time. Should we lose altitude under pressure during our flight, reach up and pull down a prayer. Prayers will automatically activate by faith. Once your faith is fully activated, you can assist other passengers. Please be advised there will be no baggage on this flight. Let us leave behind what we don’t need to carry. Life is beautiful enjoy each and every moment. The Captain has cleared us for take-off. I wish you health, love, peace and wisdom to understand that happiness is a journey...not a destination! We all practice our faith by our good works in Jesus’ name. The roster of names that made our Christmas season wonderful and bright is long: Musicians, liturgical assistants, choirs, decorators, Nativity play helpers, children’s concert singers, staff, Giving tree helpers and donators, Women’s Club, Knights of Columbus, generous contributors. I would like to highlight 2 among many blessings. Last year and this year, there were several tags on the giving tree that no one took, and a couple and a family took them and returned with gifts. Thank you! Also, for several months we had an “urban dweller” whose name is Joe living behind St. Martin’s. As people found out, one by one they came to tell me about him living there. I knew, and thanked each of them, and true to HC form, many folks reached out to him with food and cash. He is gone now, but this note appeared scribbled on a scrap paper: To Holy Cross Church: “Please forgive me for trespassing on your private property, I did not know where to go. Sometimes life is hard and you fall down hard…but if you have faith in Jesus, then he will be right there to give you a helping hand back on your feet. Thank you HC for all you have done. FROM THE PASTOR, CONTINUED...
Todos practicamos nuestra fe mediante nuestras buenas obras en el nombre de Jesús. La lista de nombres que hicieron que nuestra temporada navideña fuera maravillosa y brillante es larga: músicos, asistentes litúrgicos, coros, decoradores, ayudantes de la pastorela de navidad, cantantes de conciertos infantiles, personal, ayudantes del Arbol de Regalos y donadores, Club de Mujeres, Caballeros de Colón, contribuyentes generosos. Me gustaría destacar 2 entre muchas bendiciones. El año pasado y este año, hubo varias etiquetas en el árbol de regalos que nadie tomó, y una pareja y una familia se las llevaron y regresaron con regalos. ¡Gracias! Además, durante varios meses tuvimos un "habitante urbano" cuyo nombre es Joe, viviendo detrás de la bodega de San Martin. Cuando la gente se enteró, uno por uno vinieron a contarme sobre él viviendo allí. Lo sabía, y les di las gracias a cada uno de ellos, y fiel a la forma Holy Cross, mucha gente se acercó a él con comida y dinero en efectivo. Ahora se ha ido, pero esta nota apareció garabateada en un papel arrugado: Para la iglesia de Holy Cross: "Por favor, perdónenme por traspasar su propiedad privada, yo no sabía a dónde ir. A veces la vida es muy difícil y caes muy duro... pero si tienes fe en Jesús, él estará allí para darte una mano de ayuda nuevamente. Gracias HC por todo lo que han hecho. Disney’s Little Mermaid
This year’s Holy Cross Street People’s Show will be Disney’s The Little
Mermaid. Performance dates will be the first two weekends in February.
Tickets will go on sale in the Narthex after all weekend masses starting
January 6 and 7 through January 27 and 28. It takes far more than actors
and actresses to put on our plays. We are also looking for set crews,
costumers, individuals to solicit ad sales for the program, a person familiar
with Adobe Acrobat to help layout the program, bar tenders to sell beer, wine
and soda during intermission or the dinner show, ticket sellers after the
masses, and ticket takers at the performances. This is an excellent
opportunity to meet fellow parishioners, have fun and do good work on behalf
of others. Anyone with an interest in any of these activities please contact

The next English Baptism Preparation Class will be held on
Tuesday evening, January 23, 2018, from 7:00 – 9:00 pm in Rm. 12

The Health Fair is Back! Holy Cross’ Health Fair will take place on Saturday, January 27 from 8am to 2pm. There will be a variety of medical tests for the whole family. Friends of St. Martin de Porres Annual Homeless Project Friends of St. Martin de Porres will be in the narthex before and after Masses the weekends of January 20-21 and January 27-28 to collect from our generous parish donations for our annual project for the homeless. We need new men’s L and XL sweatshirts (preferably hooded). These will be given to homeless people in Atlanta at the end of January, along with hats and scarves, gloves, socks, and toiletries. Thank you for your help!
Proyecto Anual Amigos de San Martin de Porres Los Amigos de San Martín de Porres estarán en el vestíbulo antes y después de las Misas los fines de semana del 20 & 21 de enero y del 27 & 28 de enero para recaudar donaciones para nuestro proyecto anual para las personas sin hogar. Necesitamos nuevas sudaderas L y XL para hombres (de preferencia con capucha).
