The new 63rd Street/Lexington Av Station will have four new entrances at the intersection of 63rd Street and Third Avenue. Entrance 1will provide two new street-level escalators, Entrances 3 and 4 will provide new staircases, and Entrance 2 will have a street-level ADAaccessible elevator. The station will also have four new elevators from the mezzanine to platform levels.

Work in this area is to reconstruct the existing 63rd Street/Lexington Av Station, which involves excavation for the construction of anentrance and ancillary buildings, removal and upgrade of the structural elements within the existing subway tunnel, and a traction power connection to the Lexington Av/59th Street Station on the Line. This work should be completed by Spring of 2015.Q

Construction Update

Work Hours

• Construction for Entrance 1 (200 E. 63rd Street at Third Avenue) is continuing with the delivery and installation of temporary steel support structures.

• Continue surface work within plaza area (northwest corner of 63rd Street and Third Avenue) including elevator construction, concrete pours, and demolition of select areas of concrete.

• Intermittent concrete delivery for underground areas along E. 63rd Street between Third and Lexington Avenues will continue.

• Materials continue to be hoisted in and out of the station at the Third Avenue and E. 63rd Street plaza. Similarly, mechanical equipment will be hoisted through access hatches along E. 63rd Street between Park and Third Avenues.

• Maintenance and Protection of Traffic (MPT) will be set up temporarily on an as-needed/daily basis on E. 63rd Street between Lexington and Third Avenues.

• Concrete pours will continue for the construction of walls, slabs, floors and pads.

• Intermittent drilling and demolition in select areas will continue.

• Installation of new stairs, masonry walls, ceiling panels, supports, column cladding, tile framing and other station finishes throughout the station’s new section will continue.

• Continue installation of utility carrier brackets, rails, rubbing board, and support carriers for power and communications conduits in the platform areas.

• Continue installation of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, water mist, and communications systems within station areas.
