Seat Maps
Reference: HELP MAP
Seat Assignment Configuration (SAK) numbers are assigned to generic seat maps designed for each aircraft type and seat configuration; the SAK number appears on the seat map. When a day of flight equipment change occurs, either the CRC or airport must adjust the SAK to reflect the equipment configuration of the actual aircraft used. To update seat maps, the airport agent must use a duty code determined by local policy. Map Retrieval Entries
The seat map is a retrieval of the seating arrangement or configuration. Any agent can retrieve a seat map anytime after the seat map is created. Map creation is partition unique; typically seat map creation happens 30 days before flight departure.

Changing the SAK
The SAK is the number of the generic seat map assigned to specific equipment. Occasionally, equipment is substituted at the last minute and the substituted equipment has a different seat configuration. The SAK, or seat map configuration number needs to be changed. Step Action
1 Display the new SAK which shows how the map looks prior to any seats being reserved or assigned: ENTRY: 4LDSAK3 | Number of SAK to be displayed

Seat Assignments
References: HELP SEATS
HELP 4R The time in advance the system creates seat maps is based on contractual agreements. Typically a seat map is created 30-90 days prior to flight departure. Seats are requested after PNR creation; if the seat maps exists, a specific seat (row 15 seat A) can be requested. Prior to seat map creation, the seat request must be generic (front, back, aisle, window, etc.). The generic request resides in the PNR as a GFAX SSRSEAT item until the seat map is created; Worldspan then assigns a specific seat.
Seats Airport Training Guide
Page 14 0902
NOTES:
1. The function identifier is 4R plus the segment select and name select options. Seats can be requested for a maximum of 12 flight segments and/or 7 passengers in one entry.
2. All names must be in the PNR prior to making the seat request entry.
3. Seats can be reserved only on airline segments containing the Action/Advice codes of SS and HK.
4. Certain seats are restricted from advance reservation; these are designated on the seat map with an S or Z.
5. A GFAX change or delete entry (3@) must never be used on a SSRSEAT item in GFAX; the appropriate 4R entries must be used to change or cancel a seat assignment.
Generic Seat Request Whether requesting a seat or issuing a boarding pass, generic requests are considered good business practice. This method allows the system to select the seat based on defaults, which are non-smoking aisle. If all aisle seats have been assigned, Worldspan seeks a window seat. The system only assigns a center seat if there are neither aisle nor window seats available. When there are multiple passengers in the PNR, an aisle seat with adjacent seating is sought for the first name in the PNR. The basic seat request for all passengers on all segments of the PNR is 4RA; optional information such as seat type or specific seat, segment select and name select can be added. See HELP SRC for a complete list of generic seat codes.

Miscellaneous
Correcting Name Field
If the name is misspelled and name changes are allowed, correct the name field as usual. Worldspan automatically corrects the spelling in the seat GFAX item.

Reducing Number in Party If the number in party has been reduced, the seat assignments associated with the deleted name(s) is automatically removed from the PNR when end transaction (ET) is done.
Rebooking Different Class of Service in Same Compartment When 4PLFB is used to rebook a passenger in the same compartment, but a different class of service, the seats are saved.
SIMULT CHGS TO PNR If the response SIMULT CHGS TO PNR is received while working on a seat assignment, enter IS to ignore and save the seat. This also works with FQTV and PSPT (passport) entries. The PNR must be ended to permanently confirm the seats
