Seat Lumbar Sub System Replacement
Removal Procedure
Warning: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning in the Preface section.
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable from the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
Warning: Refer to SIR Warning in the Preface section.
2. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling. 3. Remove the front seat. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket. 4. Remove the front seat-back. Refer to Front Seat Back Replacement. 5. Remove the front seat cover and pad. Refer to Front Seat Back Cushion Cover and Cushion
Pad Replacement. 6. Remove the front head restraints. Refer to Front Seat Head Restraint Replacement. 7. Remove the front head restraints guides. Refer to Front Seat Head Restraint Guide
Replacement.
8. Remove the retainer (2) two places, attaching the lumbar support assembly (1) to the seat-
back frame.

9. Depress the retaining tab (2) and from the inner side of the seat-back frame, rotate the
lumbar support shaft (1) and withdraw from the seat-back frame. 10. Repeat this procedure for the opposite side.
11. Disconnect the spring (1), two places, attaching the lumbar support assembly (2) to the head
restraint frame.

12. Disconnect the electrical connectors (1) attached to seat back harness for power & memory.
13. Remove the lumbar support assembly (1).

1. Install the lumbar support assembly (1) to the seat-back frame.
2. Connect the electrical connectors (1) attached to seat back harness for power & memory.

3. Connect the spring (1) two places, attaching the lumbar support assembly (2) to the head
restraint frame.
4. Insert the lumbar support shaft (1) to the seat-back frame and rotate anti-clockwise until it
locks in front of the retaining tab (2).

5. Install the lumbar support assembly (1) to seat-back frame retainers (2). 6. Install the front seat cover and pad. Refer to Front Seat Back Cushion Cover and Cushion Pad
Replacement. 7. Install the front head restraints guides. Refer to Front Seat Head Restraint Guide
Replacement. 8. Install the front head restraints. Refer to Front Seat Head Restraint Replacement. 9. Install the front seat. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket.
Warning: Refer to SIR Warning in the Preface section.
10. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling. 11. Connect the battery ground cable to the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable
Disconnection and Connection. 12. Test the seat for correct mechanical and electrical operation.
