What a time to be an Aztec! In 2012, the Aztecs won nine (9) Mountain West championships! We

honored a school record 275 scholar athletes. We had a national champion in Whitney Ashley in

the discus. All the while, conference realignment was examined and re-examined for our athletic

programs. These are exciting times on the Mesa!

You should be proud of the student-athletes who compete in the classroom and on the field of

competition every day. When their coach asks them to give it their all, they respond. As an

athletic department, our goal is to graduate student-athletes and win championships. To do this

at a national level, SDSU Athletics must continue to examine ways to fund the department at

championship levels.

The challenge is to balance the financial needs of a growing and successful athletic program while

keeping reasonable prices to attend Aztec sporting events. After numerous planning sessions with

staff, Aztec Club Board members and the University’s Intercollegiate Athletics Council, the result

has been to increase ticket and donation requirements while still keeping the cost of attending

Aztec events below those of our peers in the Mountain West Conference as well as the southern

California region.

Enclosed you will find maps of Qualcomm Stadium, Viejas Arena and the Aztec Club benefit chart.

In the coming weeks, you will receive your renewals in the mail. Not only are we counting on your

support as a season ticket holder and/or Aztec Club member, we will be aggressive in reaching

out to fellow SDSU alums and the community to rally around our athletic programs.
