Our season kicks off with the Chairman & CEO of Cummins, Inc., Tom Linebarger. Based in Columbus, IN, Cummins is the world’s largest independent maker of diesel engines and related products. Linebarger’s career with Cummins began with an internship on the manufacturing line at the Midrange Engine plant in Walesboro, IN. Before taking the helm in 2012, he served many leadership roles including President & COO, Power Generation Business Executive VP & President, VP & Chief Financial Officer, and Supply Chain Management VP. With a mission of making people’s lives better by powering a more prosperous world, Cummins not only invests in enhancing its product portfolio, but people. This mission has served as the foundation guiding Cummins’ response, under Linebarger’s leadership, to current world events.

Since July 2007, Michael A. McRobbie has served as the 18th president of one of the largest universities in the United States, Indiana University. Since coming to IU in 1997 he served in multiple roles including Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer in 1997, Vice President for Research in 2003, and Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs for IU’s Bloomington campus in 2006. While President, McRobbie has led Indiana University though a major expansion in the size, quality, and diversity of its student body, including the largest academic restructuring in its history. Most recently, IU celebrated it’s Bicentennial in January of 2020 and under McRobbie’s leadership achieved their ambitions goal of raising $3 billion in the largest fundraising campaign in IU’s history.

He is President and CEO of Freedom House, an independent watchdog organization dedicated to the expansion of freedom and democracy around the world. Freedom House has been measuring political rights and civil liberties in every country for nearly 50 years and shares these findings annually in the Freedom in the World report. Prior to joining Freedom House in February 2017, Abramowitz spent more than 20 years at The Washington Post as National Editor and then White House Correspondent before becoming Director of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum’s Levine Institute for Holocaust Education, leading the museum’s genocide prevention efforts and public education programs.

In February 2014, he was unanimously elected by the NBA Board of Governors to serve as the NBA Commissioner where he presides over a global sports and media business built around four professional sports leagues: the National Basketball Association, Women’s National Basketball Association, NBA G League and NBA 2K League. He has served in numerous positions in the NBA over the years, dedicating his career to growing basketball around the world, embracing innovation and new technologies, increasing transparency and using basketball to bring people together and promote health and fitness. Silver has been recognized by Sports Business Journal, being given the top ranking on its list of the 50 Most Influential People in Sports Business in 2015.

He also led Cisco’s Service Provider business, growing its Enterprise and Commercial division to more than $20 billion in annual revenue and was CEO of Skype, where he was responsible for expanding the business to over 170 million connected users.

As an author, she has written biographies about the amazing women in her family: entrepreneur Madam C. J. Walker and Harlem Renaissance icon A’Lelia Walker. On Her Own Ground: The Life and Times of Madam C. J. Walker is a New York Times Notable Book and served as the non-fiction source for Self Made, the fictionalized four-part Netflix series starring Oscar-winner Octavia Spencer that premiered on March 20, 2020. She is at work on her fifth book, The Joy Goddess of Harlem: A’Lelia Walker and the Harlem Renaissance, about her great-grandmother whose parties, arts patronage and travels helped define the era.
