What is the purpose of our sculpture? The purpose of our octopus is to make people

notice that wasting plastic is dangerous in many ways.

We decided a marine animal would be best because plastic is often fatal to them. Every year over 100,000 sea creatures die because

they`re either consuming or getting tangled up in plastic.

Our aim is to STOP this from happening.

Where should our sculpture be displayed?

We hope that we can have more than 1 of our sculptures so lots of people would know what we are trying to achieve.

Our creations would be dotted around beaches as that is where plastic is having a tragic effect.

Also boat docks as fishermen play a big part in wasting plastic.WHY?

They could be out on their boats with a bottle of water, they finish the water, throw the bottle in the sea and their actions lead to a

sea creatures death!

Your children would never want to play dead fishes again.

What is our octopus made out of?

Our octopus is made entirely out of plastic bottles. Here`s what the different parts play

in our sculptureHere is a plastic bottle These would

be the octopuses suckers on the legs.

We`d chop of the bottoms of the bottle to create the body of our octopus.

These would be stacked and used as the octopuses legs.

Our DesignWe have decided to use the whole of the

bottle for our design so not to waste anything.

Here are 3 designs that we have created.

Design 1:

Isabella, age 9“The body of the octopus will be made out of the bottom of a water bottle, we will use Garden wire to attach the bottles together, these will also be stacked on top of eachOther to create a realistic body shape of an octopus.”

Elif, age 9“I have used the bottle tops in my design. These would be used for eyes and to show the octopuses suckers on his legs.”

Oceane, age 9“ I think our octopus will send a clear message to everyone, and make them awareof their actions.”

DimensionsOur sculpture will be 1.5m high in total: having a 1m high stand and a 0.5m high body. The octopus’s approximate body width would be 0.5m wide and the legs would be approximately 70cm long. The legs would have wire through them so that they could be shaped in different ways.

Why would our plastic sculpture work?Well, it would….Make people notice that something NEEDS to

be done about wasting plastic.Make them want to stop what is happening.

Let the world know how many sea-life creatures we`ve saved from making our sculpture.

Thank you for taking the time to look at our idea, we really hope you like it.
