The Aim of this Training Course

• Searching for materials– Learning how to search if needed materials are in the

library• Finding materials

– Finding out the location of materials• Using the materials

– Learning the procedures to use the materials• When you need help

– Learning where to ask help if you can not find the materials

About Nagoya University Library• Central Library and Departmental libraries - There are many buildings of library!• There are around 3.16 million items of materials

– 1.2 million items of materials are held in the Central Library– There are various types of materials too

• The most important thing is to find out the location of needed materials and then go after them

• When you search materials in Nagoya University Library:

Which do You Want to Search ?

• Books– Search not only by the title– Check the call number

• Journals (the articles published in them)– searching by the title of journal, not by the title of

article– Check the volume and year

→ You can distinguish whether it is a book or a journal by the way of writing on the reference list

Searching way is different according to the materials!
