Science Robotics seeks a talented individual to serve as apart-time Assistant Editor. One of the newest publicationsin the Science family of journals, Science Robotics promotesadvances in the research and development of robotics byproviding a central forum for communication of the mostexciting discoveries. This part-time position requires acommitment of 20-30 hours per week and is based inWashington, DC.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Coordinate and plan special issues with journal Editor,Editorial Board, Editorial Manager, and authors

• Edit one to three commentary articles per month• Research and contact potential authors for commentaryarticles

• Identify key groups and emerging trends in all areasof robotics

• Attend one to four conferences per year• Work with AAAS staff to finalize content beforepublication

• Assist AAAS staff with preparing press materials• Track presubmission inquiries• Write summaries of Science Robotics articles forpublication in Science

Key Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or math;Master’s degree preferred

• Experience writing and editing scientiOc content for abroad audience

• Strong organizational and communication (bothwritten and verbal) skills

• Persuasive, persistent, energetic personality• Ability to work constructively with an internationalteam of academics

• Comfortable working in fast-paced environment withmultiple deadlines

St. Jude is the first and only pediatric cancer center to be designated as aComprehensive Cancer Center by the National Cancer Institute. It is engaged in ongoing expansion ofits facilities as well as patient care and scientific research activities.

Recognized as a world leader of genomic research in pediatric cancer, the Computational Biologydepartment at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is currently seeking exceptional candidatesfor multiple FACULTY positions. We are seeking investigators to lead multidisciplinary researchprograms of systems biology, biological image analysis, medical informatics, drug screening, andepigenetics, by integrating dry lab computational methods with wet lab experiments. Researchthat has proven or potential biological or clinical applications are of particular interest. This search isopen for mid-career or senior investigators with a strong record of independent research, as well asmotivated early career investigators interested in establishing innovative research programs.

As part of a significant expansion from a research program to an academic department, the newlyestablished Computational Biology department occupies 28,700-square-feet of laboratory andoWce space. Computational Biology investigators have access to dedicated departmental sharedresources established for BIG data analysis and functional validation. They include priority accessto cloud computing infrastructure and a local high-performance computing facility including anew state-of-art data center, a core wet lab available to support dry lab faculty, an engineeringteam for high throughput data analysis and a genomics laboratory for developing new sequencingtechnologies and assays. The research environment at St. Jude is highly interactive with collaborativeopportunities across all basic research and clinical departments, as well as access to institutionalshared resources managed by PhD-level scientists.
