though it is a new university, SDU succeeded in becoming one of the bestuniversities in a very short time, and today it is one of the distinguished highereducation foundations of our country with its academic units, academic mem-bers, number of students, physical capacity, scientific researches, and social,cultural and sports activities.

Founded in 3 July 1992, the university has got 11 faculties that offer undergrad-uate education, 2 schools, 11 vocational schools providing two-year degrees, 4institutes giving graduate education and a number of research and applicationcentres. Most of the university buildings are in the central campus which is lo-cated in Isparta city centre.

8 km away from the Centrum, the central campus is really easy to arrive. With

a ten-thousand decare land, the central campus was projected as to include allfaculties, laboratories, workshops, computer centres, libraries, culture centresand other social and sportive facilities now and then. The rate of closed areaper capita, both in terms of completed buildings and facilities in the centralcampus and those taken over from public and private sector in the city and inthe districts, is above the average in Turkey.

SDU has put its signature on many changes and innovations in the region inthe fields of industrialization, agricultural development and technology under-taking a leadership role. It largely contributes to the development of LakesRegion with its modern education facilities and strong academic staff. Part-timeworking students, in different units of our university in respect to their interestsand abilities, are important components that bring dynamism to many servicesoffered at the university. In all academic and administrative units, SDUs onlyaim is to provide the best education and instruction environment to almost 36thousand students.

Undergraduate EducationThere are 11 faculties giving undergraduate education at our university. Among these, Faculties of Engineering and Architecture, Arts and Sciences, Technical Education, Theology, Agriculture, Econom-ics and Administrative Sciences, Forestry, Medicine, Dentistry and Fine Arts are located in the centralcampus. And the Faculty of Fisheries was established in E irdir. Each faculty has got large geographicaland sociological application areas besides at least one building, workshops and laboratories equippedwith new technologies.

The SchoolsThere are two schools belonging to our university. The students of Isparta School of Health Servicesgraduate from midwifery, nursing, physical treatment and rehabilitation, medical office departments. Inthe School of Foreign Languages, the education is carried out for associate, undergraduate and graduatestudents in the foreign language preparation classes.

Furniture and Decoration ProgramThe program has the goal of training qualified technicians through providing theoretical and practicaleducation related to the production needed by modern and trademarked furniture sector. The graduatestudents, titled as furniture and decoration technician, work in small and medium enterprises and in tra-demarked furniture factories, as a product designer or in production process.

Accounting ProgramThe program intends to meet well-educated and qualified accounting staff need in Turkey. to reach thataim, it teaches basic knowledge about management, finance and tax applications. Also, package softwareprograms, used extensively in accounting, are taught in computer labs. The graduates of the program canwork, as assistant personnel, in free accounting, finance consultant and sworn finance consulting offices.Furthermore, they can find jobs in banks, insurance, tourism, building and industry offices.

Forestry ProgramThe program was launched to train applicatory staff for forestry sector. The graduates can be employedin the ministry of Forest and relevant establishments besides private sector. The people who are to preferthis program should be interested in mathematics and sciences, social, extroverted, creative, contender andnature lover.

Medical and Aromatic Plants ProgramThe aim of this program is to train assisting technical staff, who are equipped with todays knowledgeand experienced in production and use of medical and aromatic plants, and who are able to start and runtheir own businesses, for the public and private sectors of this field. So, the graduates can work for publicand private establishments, and also in their enterprises.

Hunting and Wild Animals Habitat ProgramThe program was established to conduct necessary researches and inventory studies on hunting and wildanimals and their habitats, to determine protection and development activities, to make, apply, control,observe and evaluate management plans. Since the number of staff and research and inventory studiesrelated to hunting and wild animals is insufficient, it is intended to remove deficiency in this field, throughthis program.

Opticianship ProgramThe program was established to train staff for selling numbered spectacle lens and frames for glasses

to protect individual and social health, for selling all kinds of prescribed contact lens and for mountingglasses.

Human Resources ProgramThe goal of this program is to train staff for public relations, human resources, marketing, and saledepartments of all public and private establishments. Our students get the theoretical and practicaleducation sufficient for performing management and information requiring operations. The graduates canwork for public or private establishments.

Marketing ProgramThe purpose of marketing education is to provide qualified workforce for the firms that have began toattribute great importance to learning and applying modern marketing methods. The graduates can beemployed in all establishments, as a sale assistant or a market researcher.

Construction ProgramThe objective of this program is to train technical personnel capable of applying building plans and projectsprepared by architects and engineers. Our graduates are able find job opportunities in the directorates wit-hin General Directorates of Public Works, and Agriculture and Village Affairs, and DSI (State Water Affairs),construction sites of watering, sewer system, and dams, construction site laboratories and civil engineeringoffices.
