The Science Classroom Environment: How to Enhance Student Learning
Planning for ENGAGEMENT with big science ideas, ELICITING students' ideas, SUPPORTING ongoing changes in students' thinking, and DRAWING together evidence-based explanations are classroom practices that help students from ALL backgrounds deeply understand fundamental science ideas.
Using Ambitious Science Teaching by Mark Windshidtl, Jessica Thompson, and Melissa Braaten as a resource, this institute for grades 3-12 teachers will examine how the classroom environment can be developed around these practices to enhance science learning for ALL students.
