Enrolling NOW for Kindergarten 2016

If you have a child who is turning 5 before 31st July 2016 they are ready to enrol in Kindergarten for 2016. Please note: We will need to sight and take a copy of your child’s original birth certificate, immunisation certificate from Medicare and your proof of address.

REMINDER: 3-6 Sports Gala Day On Tuesday 17th November our 3-6 students will be participating in the Term 4 Sports Gala Day. We will be competing against our local schools. All 3-6 students are required to participate. Each school will host a different sport: Ashcroft – Newcombeball Cartwright – Basketball Heckenberg – Continuous Cricket Busby – Ultimate Frisbee

Principal’s Report… Last Friday was our final whole school assembly where many of our students were rewarded for their commitment to learning. Just a reminder to receive a Principal’s Award students need to hand in their two Assistant Principals Awards to the office prior.

Sun Safety Could I please ask that you put sunscreen on before sending your child to school. I would also recommend that if you want your child to apply sunscreen at school a roll on would be preferable. Please ensure your child has a hat everyday.

Scripture and Religious Education Our Scripture classes are held every Wednesday. The following religious groups offer instruction to students on this day: Anglican, Catholic, Islamic. Non scripture supervision is provided to students not attending scripture classes. Children are placed into scripture groups based on the information provided to the school by parents. If you wish to make changes to your child’s scripture class, please advise the school in writing. As scripture only runs for 30 minutes, students who behave inappropriately at scripture and cause disruptions to the class will be excluded.

Playground duty In case your child needs to speak to a teacher before school, at recess or at lunchtime. I would like to share that at the following times there is a teacher/teachers on duty to support our students:

Morning: 8.30am to 8.55am - 1 teacher on duty Recess: 11.00am to 11.20am - 2 teachers on duty Lunch: 1.20pm to 2.00pm - 3 teachers on duty Please remind your child to speak with one of the teachers on duty if they have any concerns or issues.

Bandanna Day Thank you for your continued support we raised $404.20 for CanTeen the Australian organisation for young people living with cancer.

Parent meeting We had another informative Clinician meeting last Tuesday. It was wonderful to sit with our parents and our new nurse Joanne as we were able to support and respond to our school community needs. Our next clinician meeting will be on Tuesday 24th November at 9.15am in the meeting room. Hope to see you there.

Crunch @ Sip We are in Week 2 of our Crunch @ Sip Competition – it is very pleasing to see all of our students across the school from Kindergarten to Year 6 making healthy eating and drinking choices. To promote our healthy eating and water as our favourite drink drive, all students will be given free water bottles. There are two more weeks left for our Crunch @ Sip drive to win a Free Canteen Lunch Voucher from our canteen for one student from each class – it could be you - so remember Think, Eat and Drink Healthy …

Buy Uniforms NOW for 2016

Our school uniform is required to be worn on a daily basis. Our Uniform Shop is open on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8.30am to 9.30am. If you are unable to attend during these times you can pre-order through the Office.

The uniform price list is available from the Office or you can download it on our website www.ashcroft-p.schools.nsw.edu.au in the ‘Our School’ section and then just click on the Uniform tab.

Remember you can pay for uniforms, preschool fees, excursions etc. via any of the above payment methods at the office or via POP (Parent online Payments) on our website www.ashcroft-p.schools.nsw.edu.au just click on the $ make a payment tab. Reminder: When paying with cash, please write your child’s full name, class, payment for and the amount you are paying on the envelope.

Please remember to insert the correct money.

Change of contact details Please remember to notify the office of any recent changes to your contact details including change of address, home telephone and mobile numbers. It is also important to update the contact details of other people nominated as emergency contacts.

2016 Important Planning Information We are starting to plan our classes for 2016. Please let us know if you will be moving or if your child will be changing schools next year. We also need to know if your child will be returning after the start of the school year.
