double page spread - final draft

By Shannon Sloyan

I’m making my double page spread in InDesign. It came up with this box and I clicked document. It then came up with another box asking the size and the amount of pages I would like. I typed in 3 for the number of page. I will be using the two pages that are joined together.

I created a box using the rectangle frame tool. I then dragged the box to cover the whole of the two pages as you can see below

To change the colour of the background I went to the tool box and clicked on colour picker and chose the colour which is black. I would like it to be the same as my front cover.

I placed an image on the left side page. I also resized the image so it covered the whole of left hand page. (edit the picture at home)

After I placed the image onto the dps, I decided to edit the photograph. I changed the temperature to +24, the exposure to +1.10. I altered the contrast to +10. and I also changed the shadows to +22 and the vibrance to -100. I replaced the non edited photo with the edited photo. I edited this photo in camera raw.

I printed out the image on the double page spread to check it was blurry but it wasn’t.

On photoshop I created a background where my title of my

double page spread is going to be. I then

saved and put it on the right page.

This is the image of the white background

This is how it is going to be placed on the double page spread.

I then created a border for the title. I cropped the paper so you wouldn’t get the whole page to be placed on the double page spread.

I placed two opposite each other. The title will go in between them

I then created the title for the double page spread. It will go in between the boarders like the photo below shows:

I then added my first paragraph of my double page spread. The font is Eras Bold ITC. The size of the text is 12, however I changed the size of the letter ‘D’ to size 36 to make it more appealing,

I added text saying ‘Questions asked by you’ in capitals so it stands out. I will add more text underneath it and to the right of it too.

I copied and pasted the text from a word

document I already wrote up previous.

When I pasted the text on the page, it came up with the font ‘Times New Romans’. So I had to changed to Eras Bold ITC.

I changed the colour of the questions and the names of the people who answered the questions. So for example:What made you come up with the name Blonette?Caitlin: we came up with a lot of names such as 2gals and tsgirls which stands for tall small girls. Ahahah!Meghan: hahaha but then in the end we went with Blonette which stands for blonde and brunette combined together.

I added more text to the page. I will add the footer on the bottom right hand side and the bottom left hand side of the page.

I added the footer and wrote ’05’ in the font Eras Bold ITC. And changed the size to 17. I then place it to the left hand side of the page.

I added the footer and wrote ’06’ in the font Eras Bold ITC. I altered the colour to white so that you could see it clearly. And changed the size to 17. I then place it to the right hand side of the page.

I decided to get rid off the photo I originally had on the double page spread and swapped it for this one:

I edited the photo using camera raw and I cropped it so you could see the dirty green wall at the bottom. This is what I used to edit my photo.

I also used the clone tool to erase the green wall on the bottom but then decided to crop it.

I edited the photo to erase the background of the brick as it wasn’t very nice. I used the paint bucket to make the background of the magazine become white. And I will make sure that the text is black so that I don’t get confused.

I changed all the text to the colour black so when I change the background to white all the text will appear again.

This is what my magazine double page spread looks like. I placed the image in the middle of the page. And I moved the quote to the top of the page.
