Nayani Vijayaratnam Screen Test Notes I decided to produce screen test notes in which I decided to have individuals act/read out lines in order to find a male protagonist and a female antagonist who fit the roles perfectly. I will be observing each individual’s body language and attitude towards their role. Also I will be focusing on their over all performance of how well they are able to present emotions such as fear, which is necessary for my production. Other factors that I will be considering when choosing my actors is how confident they are, how well they are able to project their voice and their level of comfort whilst being around each other. Dylan is a lively teenage boy who is one of the smartest boys in his year. He has a keen interest in technology and science and gets caught up with the wrong people, while doing some research for a school project. Dylan must be dressed casually in clothing such as a hoody, t- shirt, jeans etc. as this is what stereotypically teenage boys wear. The actor that I’m looking for should be able to portray intelligence and express emotions such as fear to the audience through their facial expressions, in order to make the audience feel anxious and create tension. Ms. Clark is in her early thirties and is he CEO of a secret organization. She believes that science is the answer to everything and is working on new chemicals and ways to change the way society and humans behave. She’ll do anything to complete her research and experiments even if it means that people die during the process. She must be dressed smartly as she is of a high position. Screen Test Notes

I decided to produce screen test notes in which I decided to have individuals act/read out lines in order to find a male protagonist and a female antagonist who fit the roles perfectly.

Dylan must be dressed casually in clothing such as a hoody, t-shirt, jeans etc. as this is what stereotypically teenage boys wear.

The actress that I am looking for must be able to portray power and authority through her tone of voice and body language.

For the role of the male protagonist I decided to audition 3 males. One person has olive skin is tall and has dark features, the second individual is mixed race, tall and also has dark features and the third person is black, has dark feature and is also tall. As the role of the male protagonist has only one small dialogue I thought that I would be better for me to audition the individuals on their ability to tell the narrative through their body language and facial expressions.

Actor 1Name: Jamie SalemAge: 16Height: 5’6Features: Dark brown hair, brown eyes

After viewing his performance I was very impressed with his ability to present emotions clearly. I was very impressed about his body language, which was exactly what I was looking for and his facial expressions, which were very good as well. He presented emotions such as fear and anxiety very well, which is

needed for the role. He was also very bubbly and enthusiastic about the role, which made it easier to work with him and explain what I wanted for the role of Dylan. However I found hat he was quite shy towards the beginning of the performance but managed to grow more confident and break out of his shell as he was acting.

Actor 2Name: Craig Jeakins Age: 16Height: 5’6Features: Brown Afro, Brown eyes

Craig was very confident and energetic from the beginning and he was able to take on the role of Dylan very well. His body language was excellent and I enjoyed watching him. However I did think that, in comparison to actor 1, his facial expression weren’t as good as he didn’t really show a variety of expressions and I think that for the role of Dylan it was not enough to portray to the audience his emotions clearly.

Actor 3Name: Kwesi BurobeyAge: 17Height: 5ft8Features: Black hair, Dark features.

Kwesi was very confident from the beginning of the performance and I felt that he was very passionate and enthusiastic about the role. He was able to deliver his emotions very well and showed a variety of expressions. Although, his height and dark features suited the role of Dylan, he didn’t have the right look for the role of a male protagonist as he presented more of a teenage role.

Overall actor 1, Jamie, was an excellent performer and managed to present emotions clearly through his facial expressions and body language. He also has the right look for the role of a male protagonist which I was looking for and his bubble personality makes it very easy to communicate and work with him.

For the role of the female antagonist, I auditioned 2 individuals. One person is Asian, short and has dark features, the second person is white/oriental, tall and also has dark features.

Lines: ‘Stop running Dylan, there’s no escaping us. We will find you no matter where you go.’

Actress 1Name: Nimrah Chaudhary Age: 17Height: 5’4Features: Black hair, brown eyes

Nimrah was very confident which made it very easy to work with her and I could tell that she had a high level of comfort, which I was looking for. Also she was very good at projecting her voice when reading the lines but felt that she lacked character/emotion when reading it, which made it quiet boring to watch. Furthermore, I found that she although her dark features had were perfect for the role of a female antagonist she didn’t have the right look for a female antagonist.

Actress 2 Name: Christine SandfordAge: 17Height: 5’6Features: Black Hair, Brown Eyes

I was very impressed with Christine, as she took on the role of the antagonist really well. Her facial expressions and body language were very well as she had an intimidating look to her, which is exactly what I wanted from the role. She managed to project her voice really well and was very confident. Also I think her dark features and height are perfect for the role of the antagonist and therefore I chose Christine.
