It dates from 1864 to approximately 1871. The front cover is a red wave pattern with a woman and child pasted on it. The book contains loose materials, brittle, spine holding together. Book 3 This book, AR 56-10 contains news clippings, notes, programs and personal recognitions some relating to Mrs. John Adams of Springfield and various women's clubs. It dates from 1934-1936. It contains some loose materials and loose pages that are taped into the book Book 4 This book, AR 56-11, contains various newspaper photographs and articles from Springfield. It dates from about 1940-1950 including the 1950 Wildcats state champions. Brown leather. It contains many loose materials including all pages. Some pages are cut and split. Book 5 This book, AR-56-13, is the Robert Brain Scrapbook donated by Orton G. Rust. It contains news clippings relating to Brain as well as programs from concerts and performances. It dates from 1893. The book is brown leather with scrapbook embossed on the cover. The inside front cover is loose, allowing some pages to pull loose. Book 6 This book, 56-14, contains news clippings of weddings, wedding anniversaries, and engagements dating from 1933-1953. Many clippings include pictures of the bride or the couple. The cover of the book is black worn in places with a pirate in the middle. There are many loose pages in the book. The spine is loose and tied with string. The articles were published in 1938. The cover is blue and there are some loose materials. A copy of this articles with a topical index is located in the research library.

Book 3 This was the scrapbook of HE Miller contains news clippings on community events and activities from 1932-1940. Some of the clippings were from the Columbus Dispatch. There are seven clippings in all. The cover is light brown. All the materials are loose and bunched together in the book. Book 4 This was the scrapbook of Charles R Walker from June 1925. It includes news clippings and photographs regarding Walker family announcements including deaths, weddings anniversaries, births, and the Walker Brothers Shoe Store. The cover is black. There are some loose materials. Book 5 This was the scrapbook of Margaret May which includes news clippings about social announcements and events including parties, deaths, meetings, engagements, and weddings from approximately 1900-1954. The front cover features a paper scroll and flowers with a ribbon on the side.

Box List Book 1 This was a scrapbook donated by the Hosterman family that includes the series of articles written by Arthur D. Hosterman that detail the historic firsts of Clark County, published in 1938. In the front is an news clipping about the death of Hosterman in 1939. The articles in this book are the same as those in the second book of box three. The cover is black and it contains loose material. Book 2 This book contains information on Boyd B. Young/Air Raid warden including certificates, shoulder patches, Ohio Guard mustering, cartoons, photos- Springfield Parade, 1940s. The cover is brown and textured. It contains loose material. Book 3 This book contains information on World War I (unfastened clippings) with headlines of: Raid Alarm Stirs New York, Planes Peril San Francisco, Allies land in France: December 9, 1941. The cover is floral and it contains loose pages, the front cover is loose, blank pages in back. Book 4 This scrapbook is an illustrated directory of the Springfield Chamber of Commerce. It features photographs of Springfield businesses as well as a panel of information including the business’s name, location, and phone numbers. There are no dates in the scrapbook. It contains loose pages, spine is stretched to fit all pages. The pages are not all the same size, some of been trimmed down.

4 Book 5 This was a scrapbook of the A.M. Spinning account book from 1892. Some pages include details on billings and other on receivable details. There are many blank pages throughout the book. It contains loose pages, wear on spine. Book 6 This was the scrapbook of GB Walker’s "Big Fat Clown" (LE "Fats" Redding). It includes news clippings of ads as well as photographs, performance information, and letters from various companies to hire Walker’s act. The cover is animal skin with cloth edges and is frayed. Book 7 This book sis a reproduction of a scrapbook from newspaper articles in regional and local history written and compiled by Leonard U. Hill from 1948-1965, printers FJ Heer, Columbus OH. Pages held together well. The cover is red and the book is held together well. Book 8 This scrapbook contains newspaper clippings of short stories. The cover is green and has “Samples of St John Sewing Machine” on it.

The folders are not numbered. It includes centers the changes through the years from the Clark County Sanatorium to the Tuberculosis Sanatorium to the Springview Developmental Center. It includes photo copies of news clippings and photographs as well as newsletters, rules/regulation guides for the government patients of the Tuberculosis Sanatorium. It includes information on volunteers, auxiliaries, and resident parties/activities/events.

Box List Book 1 This book, PC998.031.01, is the Shellabarger manuscript written by William Kinnison with a copyright of 1966. The manuscript covers the life of Samuel Shellabarger from his birth in 1817 to his death in 1896. The manuscript is in great shape with some writing on the pages indicating corrections, additions, and revisions to the book. Book 2 This is the scrapbook of the later years of Samuel Shellabarger. It documents the end of his life in which Shellabarger was a lawyer, legislator, and a member of the Whig and then Republican parties. It includes news clippings of his death and funeral as well as his political and social life, letters, sheet music, and a copy of President U.S. Grant's signature on a certificate. There is considerable wear on the spine and the cover is peeling. It contains some loose pages and materials.

There are also party items such as pressed flowers, dance cards, fans, and other mementos included. Included is a copy of the Wittenberg Torch newspaper about a fire at the Woodlawn Hall on Wittenberg’s campus. Book 2 This scrapbook, PC001.018, is the college scrapbook of Annalil Pffeifer, later Ackerman. It is a dark maroon book with a little girl holding flowers on the cover. It includes news clippings, programs, notes, photographs, and other items on the school athletics, school organizations, committees, and the football team. The materials are similar to the first book in the box. The front cover has come off and there is tape and worn edges. This book requires careful lifting as the lid is not snug.

Box List Book 1 This book, PC 998.234.2, contains chronological information including news clippings, newsletters, membership articles, and more on the YMCA and the YWCA. It includes appointment information, building plans, and Camp Evergreen information. The pages are numbered. The first half of the book is information on the YMCA and the second half is information on the YWCA. The book has a brown marble cover and the pages, especially page 39, are brittle. There is some glue damage in the book and some areas where the glue transferred to another page. Book 2 This book, PC 998.234.2, contains chronological information including news clippings, newsletters, membership articles, pamphlets, and more on the YMCA and the YWCA. It includes officer appointment information, 1935 statistics reports, and Camp Knoll for girls information. There is some information on race relations and problems the organization had. Also included are free school information, Christmas activities, art shows, and exhibits. The pages are numbered. The pages are numbered. The coverage begins with Kennedy’s death and runs through his funeral. Also included are some news clippings on Lee Harvey Oswald. The news papers are folded over and difficult to examine. Some will not completely unfold. There are loose articles at the back of the book. Book 2 This book, PC 998.234.4, includes news clippings on health department appointments, health inspections, news, and health recommendations. It includes topics such as children's health, tuberculosis, scarlet fever, milk pasteurization, the plague, and other illnesses. The book is a black legal size book with pages numbered. Some of the articles are taped in the book. Book 3 This book, PC 998.234.3, has information on the US Postal Services from 1930-1953. It includes news clippings and more on new postal buildings and construction, appointments, funding, mailing advice, stamps, retirees, new hires, programs, and employee articles. The book is a brown marble legal size book. There is some glue damage and some materials have been taped onto the pages.

Box List Book 1 This book, PC 001.018.10, is the wedding album from the 1905 wedding of Paul and Adele Pffeifer. Paul and Adele are the parents of Annalil (Pffeifer) Ackerman of later scrapbooks. The book is covered in silk and includes quotes by poets, handwritten wedding gift information, guests, and a booklet "My duty towards my neighbor" as well as a handmade card including a mini 1915 calendar. The cover is silk with wedding bells on the front. The threads of silk are pulling loose and are slightly discolored. The book is very fragile and requires careful handling.

It contains news clippings, newsletters, party favors, sports information. The book is very thick with worn leather. The edges are worn and the spine is stretched due to the thickness.

At the front is a handwritten note title "Analysis of a kiss". Also included is the wedding invitation, handwritten notes from guests, wedding details such as guests and gifts, wedding related news clippings, mementos, photographs. Information is included about the engagement, wedding, and honeymoon. The book was given to Annalil by her mother, Adele Pffeifer. Annalil added details and comments to the entries.

Vacations included Florida locations; Mount Vernon; Washington, DC; Mount Rushmore; Badlands, South Dakota; and Clifton Gorge. Also included is the will of Pearl G. Hunning, information related to deaths in the Pffeifer/Ackerman families (news clippings, letters, and memorials), World War II Red Cross certificates for Adele Pffeifer and Annalil Ackerman. The pages are black with a maroon cover. There are loose items placed in individual folders and labeled to indicate where they were located originally, i.e. between pages 1 and 2.

The articles and news clippings are about activities planned, aid to the needy at Christmas, and drives planned. The photographs are of the children and families aided at various events hosted by the VSB. The personal notes are about needy families with some details. There is no order to the book arrangement. It is light brown with "Scrapbook" in gold printed on the cover. The spine is very loose and allows materials to fall out. Book 2 This book, PC 008.058.0001, is the Eta Sigma Tau Sorority Scrapbook from Betty Saunders. It dates from 1934-1939. It includes personal letters and envelops, drawing of various women, post cards, and Eta Sigma Tau materials such as its officer listings, outings, activities. It also includes news clippings concerning Eta Sigma Tau hosted dances and celebrations. The book is thin with a brown cover. There is a gold circle pattern on the front. Book 3 This book includes financial information from 1954, similar to other scrapbooks in the collection. It includes news clippings of advertisements, bank reports, home loan information, travel/vacation clubs, as well as advertisements for various seasons such as Christmas; New Years; Thanksgiving. There are articles regarding the officers and directors of banks as well as some financial reports and statements. Some articles have a red X through them. The most frequently mention bank is the Merchants and Mechanics Federal Savings and Loan Association. The book has no cover and is wrapped in wax paper. It is held together by metal pins in the spine. Some articles have a red X through them.
