Special instruction is given in the medical department on Diseases of Women, Physical Diagnosis, &c., and in the surgical department on Diseases of the Eye, the Ear, and Larynx. Separate wards are devoted to fever, venereal diseases, diseases of women, diseases of the eye, also to cases of incidental delirium or insanity. Post-mortem examinations are conducted in the anatomical theatre by the pathologist, who also gives practical instruction in Pathologicat Anatomy and Histology. The fees for hospital attendance are as follows, viz. :-Perpetual ticket, in one payment, £12; annual ticket, i6 6s. ; six months, f4 4 4s. ; three months, £2 2s. ; monthly, il Is. IRISH HOSPITALS AND MEDICAL SCHOOLS.

QUEEN’S COLLEGE, CORK, SCHOOL OF MEDICINE.-Thebuilding is provided with a very large, well-ventilated dis-secting-room, with physiological and toxicological labora-tories, materia medica, anatomical and pathological museums,as well as a room for surgical and obstetrical instru-ments and appliances. There are well-appointed physicaland chemical laboratories, and a large natural historymuseum in the adjoining building ; and part of the Collegeground is laid out as a botanical garden. The plant housesare now completed and well filled with plants, and are opento the students in the class of Botany.Fees.-For Practical Anatomy, JE3; for Practical Chemistry,

:E3 each course; for Anatomy and Physiology, jE3 first course,and X2 for each subsequent course. Other medical classes,j62 first course, and fl each subsequent course. Eight,scholarships (value about £30 each), as well as several ex-hibitions and class prizes, are awarded every year.

Clinical instruction is given at the North and SouthInfirmaries, and at the Lying-in Hospital ; students canalso attend the Mercy General Hospital, the Maternity, theChildren’s Hospital, and the Eye and Ear Infirmary. Feefor Clinical lectures and attendance at either the North orSouth Infirmary, eight guineas for twelve months; fivefive guineas for six months. Clinical instruction can now begiven to the students of Queen’s College, Cork, by theresident medical superintendent of the Cork District LunaticAsylum, which contains about 700 patients.SIR PATRICK DUN’S HOSPITAL, Dublin (in connexion

to attend the clinic of the hospital for twelve months, andto attend the lectures delivered by Dr. R. G. Butcher,University Lecturer in Operative Surgery. Students whohave taken out the degrees of Bachelor in Medicine andMaster in Surgery in Trinity College are entitled to attendthe hospital as perpetual free pupils.

Clinical Lectures are delivered in the hospital theatre atten o’clock on Mondays and Tuesdays. In addition to thehospital fee, the payment of a fee of ;1;:9 9s. is required forthe privilege of attending these lectures. Total fees forhospital and lectures for twelve months, £12 12s.

Sir Patrick Dun’s Maternity. —Total fees for collegestudents, £3 3s. Total fees for externs, f6 6s.THE ADELAIDE MEDICAL AND SURGICAL HOSPITALS,

Peter-street, Dublin.-Fee for nine months’ Hospital attend-ance, £12 12s. Six months’, £8 8s. Summer three months’,f5 5s.Three resident pupils are selected half-yearly. At the

termination of the session, prizes in Clinical Medicine andSurgery, in Obstetric Medicine, and in Ophthalmic Surgerywill be awarded.Hudson Scholarship.-In addition to the junior prizes, the

Hudson Scholarship, j630 and a gold medal, as well as aprize of £10, together with a silver medal, will be awardedat the end of the session for proficiency in Clinical Medicineand Medical Pathology ; Clinical Surgery and SurgicalPathology ; Pathological Histology ; Surgical Appliances,including instruments and bandaging; Ophthalmology andGynæcology.The certificates of attendance are recognised by all the

Universities and Licensing Bodies in the United Kingdom.LEDWICH SCHOOL OF SURGERY AND MEDICINE, Peter-

street, Dublin (formerly original School of Anatomy,Medicine, and Surgery).-There are endowments in favourof students, subject to conditions prescribed by the founder,in the following departments :-Two in Anatomy and Phy-siology ; two in Minute Anatomy; two in PracticalAnatomy; one in Surgery. Certificates of attendance onthese lectures are received by the various examining boards;by the Apothecaries’ Halls of Dublin and London; by theKing and Queen’s College of Physicians in Ireland ; by theRoyal Colleges of Physicians, London and Edinburgh; bythe Royal University, the Universities of Dublin, London,and Glasgow ; by the Glasgow Faculty of Physicians andSurgeons and by the Queen’s University in Ireland. TheSenate of the Royal University having recognised thelectures of this school, arrangements have been madeto educate students for its Medical and Surgical Degrees inaccordance with its requirements. This school is in acentral situation, and is replete with every convenience forstudy, and successful instruction. By it-! teachers it is con-nected with nine hospitals, four of which are Medical andSurgical hospitals, one for fever, one for Midwifery andDiseases of Women and Children, one for Diseases of theEye and Ear, &c.Returns for the session 1883-84 have not been received

STEEVENS’S HOSPITAL,-This hospital, containing

beds for 250 patients, is situated close to the KingsbridgeTerminus of the Great Southern and Western Railway,occupying a position in the centre of one of the busiestmanufacturing districts of the city, otherwise unprovidedwith medical institutions. Immediately adjoining is St.Patrick’s (Swift’s) Asylum for the Insane. The hospital iseasily accessible by two lines of tramways, and owing to itsposition affords exceptional advantages for clinical instruc-tion. There is a ward entirely devoted to Syphilitic Disease,a detached building for Fever cases, and an extensive Out-patient Department, with separate Clinics for Diseases ofthe Skin, Throat, Teeth, and those peculiar to Women.The hospital is visited daily, at half-pa"t eight A M., by theresident surgeon, and at nine A.M. by the physicians andsurgeons. The Surgical wards are also visited each evening.Clinical Lectures are given by the physicians and surgeonsduring the session.
