I appreciate all of those who have gone through the necessary training to be able to perform medical procedures, and diagnose diseases. We especially appreciate those folks in this trying me. But, I want to talk to you for a moment about anesthesia. From what I understand, the simplest explanaon for how anesthesia works is that it interrupts signals being sent to your brain. So, even though your body may experience pain, the brain doesn’t process it. Anesthesia keeps your brain from acknowledging pain, or even remembering what happened during surgery (if it’s general anesthesia). Have you ever considered that so much of what the world has to offer us, is nothing more than a spiritual anesthec? We get pulled into binge- watching TV shows, polical agendas, sports, hobbies, chores, careers, etc. etc. … and it becomes a way to avoid acknowledging the ache in our malnourished souls. Perhaps this is part of the reason Paul warned so sternly in Romans 12 - “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind…”. It’s easy to ignore our spiritual well-being while being anesthezed by the world. It’s easy to forget about the importance of our relaonship with God while constantly reading the latest updates about COVID-19. Perhaps while we all are spending more me at home, instead of finding one more new show to watch, or one more game to play, or one more website to browse … we need to spend more me in God’s word, and allow it to snap us out of our spiritual anes- thesia. Think about it. ~ Bryan Dill

Spiritual Anesthesia

I’m no doctor, that’s for sure. I appreciate all of those who have gone through the necessary training to be able to perform medical procedures, and diagnose diseases. We especially appreciate those folks in this trying time. But, I want to talk to you for a moment about anesthesia. From what I understand, the simplest explanation for how anesthesia works is that it interrupts signals being sent to your brain. So, even though your body may experience pain, the brain doesn’t process it. Anesthesia keeps your brain from acknowledging pain, or even remembering what happened during surgery (if it’s general anesthesia). Have you ever considered that so much of what the world has to offer us, is nothing more than a spiritual anesthetic? We get pulled into binge-watching TV shows, political agendas, sports, hobbies, chores, careers, etc. etc. … and it becomes a way to avoid acknowledging the ache in our malnourished souls. Perhaps this is part of the reason Paul warned so sternly in Romans 12 - “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind…”. It’s easy to ignore our spiritual well-being while being anesthetized by the world. It’s easy to forget about the importance of our relationship with God while constantly reading the latest updates about COVID-19. Perhaps while we all are spending more time at home, instead of finding one more new show to watch, or one more game to play, or one more website to browse … we need to spend more time in God’s word, and allow it to snap us out of our spiritual anes-thesia. We, the family of Lucille Metcalfe would like to thank each of you that sent her a birthday card for her 93rd birthday. I witnessed her enjoying them through her window. She had them in her lap

and was reading each of them. In times like this the sim-plest things mean a lot to a person who can not see any of her family and friends. We all have taken things for grant-ed until this situation with our country arose. Please pray for the healthcare workers that are now taking the place of family. Waves through the window are not the same as actually seeing and talking with family members but for now this is their life. Continue to pray for each of them that are in her situation that no longer has contact with the outside world. Thank you for the men who have served her communion in the past. She appreciated your visit, especially Brian Oatts, who brought his dog during his visit. She talked about it a lot. Thank you, Brian. In Christian appreciation, Terri Putty
