OTHER THIN65 WE HAVE DONE

Things have taken off Since receiving some funding in NovemberzOLl, Thonk you to Southwork Council!. We used this money to poyfor o project monoger f or 6 months to work with us to trcin, coochand develop us in order thot we could develop the SCfL (not hove theProject Monoger do this for us). ft will olso poy for some eguipmentand troining in order to get the SCIL uP ond running.In November z0tt we (the Core Steering Group) storting meetingon o weekly bosis olong with the Project Manoger to orgonise eventsond to octively drive the development of the SCfL.We were involved in o consultotion with the Deportment of Heolth(DOH) colled "Coring For Our Future". This looked of six priorities:1. Improving guolity ond developing the workf orce: 2.Tncreosedpersonolisotion ond cho ice: 3. Ensuring servic es o?e betterintegroted oround people's needs; 4. Supporting greater preventionond eorly intervention:5. Creoting o more diverse snd responsiveco?e morket; 6. The role of the f inonciol services sector insupporting users, ca?ers ond their fomilies. We porticipoted in aworkshop thot gathered our ?ep?esentotives views on the obove, thisf eedback wos then considered by Southwork Council when writingtheir respons e to the DOH.In December we organised o "Toster SessionWeek" to ottroct newmembers of the SCfL ond to discover whot people wonted from theSCTL, some of which hos been detoiled on the previous poges.We orgonised the Xmos decorotions ond Xmos Porty (including ourown entertainment from our own stors which wos o huge success-seebelow ond on the next Page for Photos).

In Jonusry-we increosed our membershipf rom 20 to over 120 ond it continues to rise.We storted new, member focilitoted groups-Fontosy Flowers,Newsletter ond Access Audit. We submitted two condidotes for theBBC's Presenf Able project which wos looking for disabledpresenters.In Februory-We submitted 2 opplicqtions for funding for o doncef eacher (we are owoiting the results). We were involved in therecruitment process for the heod of Quolity ond Tronsformotion forSouthwork Council. We are currently in the process of welcoming allour new members with a membership pock ond holding o bollotregarding the legal structu re the SCIL should toke. This involves ohuge mail out which oll of our committee members ore currentlyoctively involved in.
