Pharmaceutical composition containing cow urine distillate

and an antibiotic (Kamdhenu Ark)

• A pharmaceutical composition comprising an antibiotic

and cow urine distillate in an amount effective to enhance

antimicrobial effect of the antibiotic is disclosed. The

antibiotic can be an antifungal agent. The antibiotic can

be a quinolone or a fluoroquinolone. The antifungal

agents are azoles, clotrimazole, mystatin or amphotericin.

Use of bioactive fraction from cow urine distillate (Gomutra) as a

bioenhancer of anti-infective anticancer agent and nutrients

• Mitomycin C is a potent anti tumor agent, reacts

covalently with DNA in in vitro and in vivo. Thus

exposure of DNA to Mitomycin C results in DNA

damage and chromosomal aberration. The distilled

cow’s urine marketed as Kamdhenu Ark was

investigated for its ameliorating effect of mitomycin C

induced chromosomal aberration. Our results showed

ameliorating effect of Kamdhenu Ark on Mitomycin C

induced chromosomal aberration .

• The Kamdhenu Ark has the volatile acids of about 1489

mg/lt. The volatile acids are known to be antioxidants.

The ameliorating effect of Kamdhenu Ark may therefore,

be attributed to its anti-oxidant property, as anti-oxidants

are known to protect DNA damage leading to genotoxic

manifestations.

Immunomodulation with Kamdhenu Ark in Mice

• The immunomodulatory effect of Kamdhenu ark was

studied on 20 mice divided into 2 groups. Groups I was

kept as control while group II mice were given 1ml

Kamdhenu ark in water for a period of 90 days. Results

indicated that there was increased B- and T- lymphocyte

blastogenesis, increased IgG, IgA antibody titres in mice

treated with Kamdhenu ark compared to controls.

Effect of Kamdhenu ark on mean ELISA values for IgG and IgA

• Immunomodulation is one of the most important alternatives to

control the diseases with additional advantages of amplifying

the specific responses to vaccines.

• Immunomodulation compounds ofer the prospect of reversing

immunosuppression caused by stress, infection, surgery or

environmental pollution (Chauhan, 1998). The impact of

chemotherapy and vaccination on many complex diseases of

animals has reached a plateau and if further progress is to be

made different strategies have to be developed.

• There are many herbs, which are known to exert their

immunomodulatory properties of which some of them are

studied scientifically but most of them are yet to be

scientifically validated.

category. It may be relapse, Failure of Tt. Afterdefaulter.
