ScienceProject–LifeScienceClassDonotbeoverwhelmedbythesizeofthispacket.Yes,youwillbecompletingalargeprojectwithmanycomponents,butwewillbebreakingitupintomanageablepieceswithlotsofguidancealongtheway.Thispacketisdesignedtobearesourceandtogiveyouagameplan.Takeitonestepatatimeandyou’llbeamazedathowmuchyouaccomplish.Eachoftheitemslistedonthefollowingscheduleisalsolistedonyourclasssyllabus.Inthefollowingpagesyouwillfinddetailedinstructionsforeachsection.Wewillalsobediscussingtheseitemsinclass.Asyousubmiteachcomponent,itwillbegivenbacktoyouwithnotesforimprovementorsuggestionstotry.Untilwegettothefinalpaperandpresentation,allassignmentswillreceiveasimplepass/failgrade.Sincethescienceprojectcountsas20%ofyourgradeduringthethird&fourthquarters,youwillwanttobesureyousubmitalltherequiredcomponents.Allsubmissionsshouldbetype-writtenandlabeled.Youwillbecompletingtheprojectinsectionsbutattheend,youwillcombineallthesectionsintoonefinalpaper.Thiswillbemucheasiertodoifallyourinformationisstoredinyourcomputer(andbackedupsomewhere).Waittopurchaseyourmaterialsforyourexperimentationuntilafteryouhavecompletedyourresearchandfinalizedthedesignforyourexperiment.Manystudentsfindthattheymakeseveralchangesduringthisprocess.Youwillbeaskedtogiveanoralpresentationofyourprojectjustpriortotheendoftheschoolyear.Youwillcreateatri-foldbackboardtouseinthispresentation.Ifyoulike,youmaygoaheadandpurchasethebackboard,butIencourageyouwaittoputittogetheruntilafteryouhavecompletedallyourexperimentationandcometoyourfinalconclusions.Aboveall,havefunwiththeproject.Ican’twaittoseewhatyoucomeupwith!
