30 November JRC at COP21: Supporting the EU to get a fair and ambitious climate deal
One of the Commission's top priorities for 2015 is to secure a fair, ambitious and legally binding global climate deal at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris (COP21), which started on the 30 November.

On 2 December, the Commission adopted a new circular economy package, which aims to extend product life span and reduce waste generation.

Assessment results on the risk of humanitarian crises and disasters in 2016 for 191 nations were released the 2 December.
2 December Climate resilient development: new open source index and indicators
The JRC has designed a global index to support the EU’s Global Climate Change Alliance plus (GCCA+) programme in its goal to help the most vulnerable countries to respond to climate change in the period up to 2020.

food
On 3 December, the European Commission adopted a report on trans fats (TFA) in food and in the overall diet of Europeans. 4 December World’s soil resources: human pressure reaching critical limits
The overwhelming majority of soil resources across the globe are in poor condition and their health is worsening, according to the first global status report on soil resources, which is being presented in Rome the 4 December in anticipation of the World Soil Day (5 December). The JRC provided extensive contributions, particularly on the regional assessment of soils in Europe. The World Soil resources report is one of the main achievements of the Global Soil Partnership (GSP) in the context of the International Year of Soil (IYS).

Targeted alpha therapy has the potential to selectively eliminate HIV infected cells from the central nervous system, according to a recent study co-authored by the JRC.
21 December Public consultation on due diligence and supply chain integrity for
intellectual property protection
The European Commission has launched a public consultation on the mechanisms developed by companies to secure their supply chains and thereby protect their Intellectual Property (IP). Companies acting as IP right holders and/or as suppliers to such a right-holder are invited to complete the survey form within both the goods and service sectors.
28 December Individual mobility: single charge of electric cars fits into average daily use
A JRC report analysed driving patterns of both conventional and electric vehicles in the EU. Findings show that most of them (more than 80%) drive less than 65 km per day, which could be covered by a single charge.
30 December European design standards widespread in the building sector
According to a new JRC study, 23 out of the 28 EU countries have implemented the European Technical Standards (Eurocodes) for buildings and other civil engineering works.
