A whole school approach to supporting mental health and well-beingCourse leader: Lorraine Peterson

London: Wednesday, 13 November 2019 Course fee: £249 + VAT Booking reference: WELL131119

Good mental health and well-being greatly increases our ability to learn and take in new information. Good physical health is assumed to be an important part of our daily lives but mental health often can be forgotten.

When we are in a good place emotionally and socially our mental health and well-being can be nurtured and supported. It allows us to face life’s challenges, make confident life choices, feel good about ourselves and learn confidently.

Since the publication of the final version of the SEND Code of Practice in 2015 schools have been looking at ways of supporting children and young people with their social, emotional and mental health needs.

This course goes one step further and looks at developing a whole school approach to supporting mental health and well-being by including all staff, parents and the wider community in the process.

• Address the needs of all children in nurturing positive mental health by adopting a school-wide policy on Mental Health and Well Being.

• Share best practice and evidence on areas of the SEND code of practice among school partners, parents and the wider community.
