Big Question

• What kind of wood will bur the fastest?????

Page 3: Science Fair

Hypothesis

• I think the Pine and Oak will bur the fastest and the Maple and the Apple wood will burn slower.

Page 4: Science Fair

Research

Moisture may affect the burning process. The amounts will affect the burning process. If you use liter fluid on one you must use it on

the rest.Pine is the most likely to burn fastest because it

causes most forest fires. Oak and maple contain a low level of moisture.

Page 5: Science Fair

Materials

• 1. Piece of oak wood• 2. Piece of Pine wood• 3. Piece of maple wood• 4. Fire pit• 5. Fire• 6. Stopwatch

Page 6: Science Fair

Procedures

• Take one of the pieces of wood and place a little bit of litter fluids on the wood and lit that.

• Repeat step one with all of your pieces of wood.

• Time each one and the one with the fastest time wins.

• Make sure you write down each one or you may forget.

Page 7: Science Fair

Control/ Variables stated

• My control my the fire.• Oak, pine, and maple.

Page 8: Science Fair

Observations

• The moisture of the wood itself affects the burning process.

• The amount of liter fluid u put on also affects the burning process.

• The ashes inside the pit may affect the burning process.

• The amount of wood defiantly affects the burning process.

Page 9: Science Fair

Data

• The pine was the fastest.• The moisture in each wood affected it.

Conclusion

• My hypothesis was correct. The pine did burn the fastest.

• I would change the different types of wood but keep the pine. It could be like a little contest.

• A new question I have is would any other substance on the wood help it burn faster.
