• USSOCOM’s Science and Technology Directorate conducts TE events throughout the year to rapidly assess technology maturity based on USSOCOM Components / Theater Special Operations Commands (TSOCs) and PEO’s identified areas of need

• Typically, three annual events are held at various installations in CONUS and each have operational themes to capture broad technology areas of interes t

Participation and Scope

• Participants at the TE events include: SOF operators, Government technology subject matter experts, and technology developers — including industry, academia, and research labs

• Observers at TE events may be DoD and Other Government Agencies

• A typical TE event features approximately 45 separate experiments

Payoff• For participating technology developers:

– Interact with SOF operators in a field environment– Identify solutions to high-priority SOF needs– Assess the maturity or potential military applicati on of a wide

variety of technologies– Collaborate with other developers

new and innovative technical solutions

Assessment Levels

• Demonstration : Technologies are demonstrated using tabletop or field conditions methods. Tech developers receive on-site verbal feedback from users or Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and a brief written assessment of the technology after the conclusion of the event.

• User Evaluation : Technologies are demonstrated using tabletop or field conditions methods. Users or SMEs may take possession of the technology to conduct more detailed assessment. Tech developers receive on-site verbal feedback from users or SMEs and a brief written assessment of the technology after the conclusion of the event.
