I have chosen to write about a brand called “Schwarzkopf”.It’s a very big brand and it hase a long history.

History:It was a chemist named Hans Schwarzkopf who founded the company in Berlin, back in 1898. hans’s first product to the market was a “powder shampoo” that

dissolved in water. It became an instant hit on the market because it was both affordable and easy to use.The profile of a black head became the logotype of the company and Hans started to supply his shampoo in every drugstore in Berlin with international distribution to Holland and Russia.

In 1927 Hans produced the first ever liquid shampoo, the demand of this product became big and with that the first hairdressing traning center opened. It was called the “Schwarskopf Institute for Hair Hygiene”.

In 1993 he invented the prototype of todays shampoo, “onalkali” the world’s first non-alkaline shampoo.

Hans Schwarzkopf invented the first cold perm in 1947 before that you had to heat your hair up to 100 degrees.By that time he also launched the first ever home colour product, Poly Colour.Poly Colour was awarded a gold medal, for being the greatest invention in it’s category.

In 1962 the Poly Colour expanded to include hair products in all segments, now covering: colour, perm, care and styling.

The first universal hair care system was later delivered comprising shampoo, conditioner and hair treatment.

In 1980 Schwarzkopf became CFC-free, the first international cosmetics manufacturer to do so.

In 1995 Henkel buys Schwarzkopf and instantly becomes a leading European supplier in the field of hair cosmetics.

Those are the grounds for the succesfull company. They are passionate about creating beautiful hair and that shows in all of their products.

Who owns the company today?Schwarzkopf is in one of Henkels three business areas, who produce beauty and also wash, cleansing, glue, seal and surface products.

What could Schwarzkopf contribute with in the future?They are a good role model for other businesses because they take very good care of the environment and they treat it with respect by working with an effective program for environmental protection. And that’s something everyone should do.
