• Availability Through an effective school website,

parents, alumni, and other visitors could access salient information about the school from anywhere, anytime, even beyond office hours, as long as there is an internet connection

•Motivation Posting the students’ excellent work

on the website is a great way to appreciate them and their works.

Page 4: School Webpage

•Develops skills The content written by the students sharpens

writing skills. The interaction the website provides develops communication skills

• Extends learning An effective website can also be used as

a teaching tool that extends beyond the walls of the classroom. Teachers can post useful links and other teaching materials. Teachers can also utilize forums or message boards to extend class discussions.

Benefits of Mail Exchange• You can deal with your email at a convenient time. You don't have to

be interrupted when email arrives, and you can read it or work with it when you have the time. Also, you can send it at a convenient time. It doesn't have to be written or sent at a time when you know the recipient will be available. This is what we mean by the term asynchronous communication

• ·You don't have to be shy about using email to communicate with

anyone. Email isn't anonymous-each message carries the return address of the sender-but you can write to anyone with an Internet address. All the messages appear the same to the person who gets the email. The messages are generally judged on what's in them, not where they're from.

• You don't have to worry about interrupting someone when you send email. The email is sent and delivered by one computer system communicating with the Internet. Although it is put into someone's mailbox, the recipient isn't interrupted by the arrival of email.

Page 6: School Webpage

• You can communicate quickly with anyone on schools network. Email usually reaches its destination in a matter of minutes or seconds.

• ·You can send letters, notes, files, data, or reports all using the same techniques. Once you learn how to use your email program, everything is sent the same way.

• The cost to you for email has nothing to do with distance, and in many cases, the cost doesn't depend on the size of the message. Most Internet access charges are based on the number of hours per month you access the Internet, or you pay a flat monthly fee.

Benefit of Networking – PCIf the truth be told, computer networks are a pain to set up. Because the benefits of having a network make the difficulty of setting one up worthwhile. You don’t have to be a Ph.D. to understand the benefits of networking. Networks are all about sharing. Specifically, networks are about sharing three things: information, resources, and applications.

Sharing applications

One of the most common reasons for networking in many businesses is so that several users can work together on a single business application. For example, an accounting department may have accounting software that can be used from several computers at the same time. Or a sales-processing department may have an order-entry application that runs on several computers to handle a large volume of orders.

Sharing information

• Networks allow users to share information in several different ways. The most common way of sharing information is to share individual files. For example, two or more people can work together on a single spreadsheet file or word-processing document. In most networks, a large hard drive on a central server computer is set up as a common storage area where users can store files to be shared.

• In addition to sharing files, networks allow users to communicate with each other in various ways. For example, messaging applications let network users exchange messages with each other using an e-mail application such as Microsoft Outlook. Users can also hold online meetings over the network. In fact, with inexpensive video cameras and the right software, users can hold videoconferences over the network.

Sharing resources:

Certain computer resources, such as printers or hard drives, can be set up so that network users can share them. Sharing these resources can result in significant cost savings. For example, it’s cheaper to buy a single high-speed printer with advanced features that can be shared by an entire workgroup than it is to buy separate printers for each user in the group.Hard drives can also be shared resources. In fact, providing users with access to a shared hard drive is the most common method of sharing files on a network. A computer whose main purpose in life is to host shared hard drives is called a file server. In actual practice, entire hard drives aren’t usually shared. Instead, individual folders on a networked hard drive are shared. This way, the network administrator can allow different network users to have access to different shared folders. For example, a company may set up shared folders for its sales department and accounting department. Then, sales personnel can access the sales department’s folder, and accounting personnel can access the accounting department’s folder. You can share other resources on a network. For example, a network can be used to share an Internet connection. In the early days of the Internet, it was common for each user who required access to the Internet to have his or her own modem connection. Nowadays, it’s more common for the network to provide a shared, high-speed Internet connection that everyone on the network can access.

Benefits for Student ManagementOrganize student enrollment and admission• It is widely seen that school management remain busy in day

to day activities and can't focus on students at gross root level. One its another reason is that management don't have any option to analyze students data more properly which results less focus on student individually.

• With the help of a student management can effectively access to both detail and summarize data of all the students and can make better decision in the favor of students that results better education and better enrollment for the institute.

Completes the Organizational data within school• Manual work most of the time is Redundant, Incomplete,

Improper, Not available when required. Dependency factor is always high in this case. Further handling old files is difficult and unhealthy. Hand written data is sometime not readable. Archivist manages your school’s data electronically in such a way that it is always accessible maintaining its security in the best possible format.

Page 11: School Webpage

Streamlines the educational process• The manual way of working gives us total freedom and flexibility …which

results in a less protocol or standardized way of working. An IT solution helps in proper documentation and standardization of education process by setting up protocols for each and every process of schooling. We document and manage much more information than the manual process. Accessing the documented information is again a very easy process.

Increases the productivity and efficiency of the school / management staff• Schools experience that the productivity of the same office staff increases

after implementation of IT solutions. They can work out things well in time and are free to take care of the other smaller issues in school management. The same office work can be handled by less staff thereby allowing the rest of the man power to be deputed in other productive works.

Decreases paper work to great extent making the process cost effective

• In a school since we manage information of thousands of users at a time against a number of transactions and activities, the paper usage in very high for collection, saving and distribution of such information. Moreover the multiple copies of the data multiply the usage. An IT solution with a good mechanism for the information processing and sharing saves a significant amount of paper for the school which in tern in not just cost effective.

Strengthens relationship with parents• Communication and transparency always play a key role in

forming a healthy relation ship with parents and also add to their satisfaction. Properly working information system helps us making better use of parent teacher meetings as the crucial time of personal interaction is not consumed in just accessing the basic information and setting up the agenda.

• Some schools are also using their web sites and portals to keep their parents informed about the latest in the school and facilitating their knowledge sharing with smartly designed tools.

Saves man hours and reduces communication cost.

Automation of basic procedures in school saves a lot of man hours daily that directly reflects to expenditure of the school. FEE, Admission, Payroll, stock.

Provides systematic way

of enhancing the teaching staff work efficiency. By making them work on their core issue of imparting education instead of working on data management and admin related issues in the school and while at home teachers can enhance their efficiency in the favor of school.

Outsourcing

• The practice of having certain job functions done outside a company instead of having an in-house department or employee handle them; functions can be outsourced to either a company or an individual

Page 15: School Webpage

Benefits of Job Outsourcing• Lower Labor Costs

Depending on where you outsource your production jobs, you can reduce your labor costs significantly. This includes not only savings on salaries and hourly wages, but also on payroll taxes and benefits. Overtime laws might also be less stringent than your locale, allowing you to add a shift or offer workers longer hours without increasing your hourly pay rate. You might also be able to reduce your costs by paying an outsourced manufacturer by pieces produced, helping you better control your costs. You are less likely to face a union in many foreign countries, reducing problems such as strikes, contract negotiations and difficulty in terminating poorly performing workers.

• Fewer RegulationsBusinesses outside the U.S. are often subject to fewer regulations regarding labor conditions, use and disposal of materials, right-to-work laws and other areas of manufacturing that raise the cost of producing goods in more developed and regulated countries.

Page 16: School Webpage

• Lower Real Estate and Plant Costs• You will save considerable money on outsourcing if you reduce or

eliminate your real estate, building, maintenance, property taxes, insurance, security, utilities and other operating and overhead costs. These savings alone might be enough to make outsourcing your manufacturing even if you don’t reduce your labor costs.

• Effects on Sales, Pricing and MarginsLowering labor, operating and overhead costs through outsourcing allows you to maintain or lower your current price levels. This can lead to increased sales and the ability to take market share from your competitors. Based on the savings you realize from outsourcing, you can lower your prices and still increase your profit margins.

• Increased Operating CapitalWhen you outsource, you reduce your expenses, and if your sales remain the same, you’ll have more money to spend on marketing, debt reduction, research and development, headquarters salaries and other areas that can help improve your bottom line.
