August 6, 2019
Executive Summary
The SSTAC participated in a community input activity on July 31, 2019. In this activity, members were
asked to generate ideas, questions, or other comments about what they are hearing in the community
related to school start times. The committee generated and categorized 169 total comments.
Comments were then analyzed and put into the following categories – Criteria, FAQ, Outside the Scope,
or Parking Lot. All verbatim comments have been included, as well as a data table summarizing the
number of comments in each category. There was also a document submitted by a committee member
that is attached.
A summary of the data indicated that 65% of the comments will be addressed by the Board’s adopted
criteria. Of those comments, “Impact on families” and “Program impact” were the highest number of
criteria related comments. Other comments that were classified for Parking Lot and FAQ will be used to
support communication and work of the committee.
