eText v4.5
• Release Saturday, Feb. 18th
• Release Notes on NEO• Identified and resolved hot fixes:
– Flash version detection• Issue: v4.5 supports Player v10.1 or higher• If user has Flash v10.1 or earlier, they will be alerted and
directed to download v11.1 • Clear browser cache
– CD ROM Flex libraries• Issue: Flex assumed internet connection for library
access• Fix will embed all required libraries
Upcoming Releases• Android v1.1
– QA continues– Planned release in early March
• eText v4.6– Internal release only (CERT3) to support PCL work– Scheduled for end of March
• eText v4.7– Planned for Late Spring or Early Summer– Will include some customer-facing features but mostly server-
side work– Include new federated services
• iPad & Android v1.2– Three new versions each– To be deployed prior to eText v4.7– Support for new hotspot types and federated servers
Pearson Custom Library (PCL)• Integration Goals
– Automated publishing process - about 2 days to create an eText– Create eTexts from PDFs stored in HighCrest– Dedicated Viewer, CM and Authoring servers (PROD3)– Automated subscription preparation and publish via RUMBA– Sale of eText/PCL products via Pearson’s Comergent
eCommerce Server– Access via HighCrest (“PCL”) Bookshelf– Subscribe to full title or individual chapters (each a book)– Release to PROD this summer after v4.7
• v4.6 release (only to CERT3)– Includes eText server enhancements to integrate with HighCrest– Needed for integration testing planned for end of March
Teacher Educator Library
• For creating and managing a collection of books
• Library with search, browse, and purchase
• Phase 1 planned for Summer 2012 release
iBook Comparison Demo
• Created to show iBook interactivity using existing eText features– Pop-up images– HTML widgets: image gallery, flowchart– Videos and animations– Practice questions
• Demo titles– Biology Chapt. 27: Animal Systems– PH Geo Chapter 1
