That means it is time to start anew!
We have identified what we will do in School Year 2017-2018.
• Support the implementation of the Iowa/Common Core throughout the 2017 -2018 school year.
● Help employees to work effectively with diverse learners and to implement multicultural, gender fair educational approaches.
● Utilize professional development days to identify Iowa Common Core Standards correlate with Learning Targets.
● Move toward horizontal and vertical articulation of curriculum.● Develop formative and summative assessments to measure the
Intended and Enacted Curriculum.● Continue to support the utilization of the Rubicon Atlas
Curriculum Planning Tool.● Conduct Teacher Leadership Compensation Grant leader
training in the summer of 2017.● Plan and implement and continuously evaluate an initial and
standard teacher mentoring programs.
Marion Independent School District will:
● Continue to support the implementation of the Iowa/Common Core throughout the 2017 - 2018 school year, revising Atlas.
● Refine reading strategies and instruction.● Continue developing MTSS supports in academics and behaviors
for Tiers 2 & 3.● Provide training and opportunity for technology integration.● Implement teacher/student training to enact Positive Behavior
Intervention Support.● Work on revision on priority standards on report cards to support
vertical articulation.● Implement differentiated instructional strategies.● Continue to integrate all content with technology and
instructional technology strategies.
Emerson and Starry ES
● Continue to support the implementation of the Iowa/Common Core throughout the 2017 - 2018 school year utilizing ATLAS.
● Define priority standards and vertical curriculum alignment.
● Continue Technology Integration and Data information.
● Maintain and Implement Café’ Instructional Strategies to supplement Iowa Core.
● Plan, Implement and review MTSS Building Initiatives.
Francis Marion Intermediate School
• Literacy and Math curriculums will be shared with families in September 2017.• Math, Literacy, Social Studies, & Science maps constructed, learning targets identified,
and I Can statements revised by December, 2018. • The 5-8th grade class will have shown an increase of at least one-year's growth based on
the Iowa Assessment Growth Model for reading using the National Standard Score. • The 5-8th grade classes will have shown an increase of at least one-year's growth based
on the Iowa Assessment Growth Model for mathematics using the National Standard Score.
• The 5-8th grade classes will have shown an increase of at least one-year's growth based on the Iowa Assessment Growth Model for science using the National Standard Score.
• Math, Literacy, Social Studies, & Science formative and summative assessments aligned by standard and criterion entered by May, 2017.
• Art, Physical Education, Vocal Music, Instrumental Music, Guidance Planning and Assessment revisited and revised by Dec 2017; in-progress reviews conducted by June 2018.
• Vocal and Instrumental Music formative and summative assessments aligned by standard and criterion entered by May, 2018.
• Guidance planning and assessments aligned by standard and criterion entered by May 2018.
• Horizontal articulation meetings are held weekly and vertical articulation meetings are held monthly.
Vernon Middle School
● Continue to support the implementation of the Iowa/Common Core throughout the 2017 - 2018 school year.
● Provide PD development for associates & teachers related to “best practices” in special education.
● Continue to work on writing/literacy initiative across curriculum. (Using Developed Rubric)
● Infuse technology as appropriate, assisted by TLC Leadership positions.
● “The Marion Way” review implementation and associated fidelity.
● Build PLC structure – continue development of PLC philosophy and implementation.
● Continue MTSS work; promulgate “pyramid of intervention.”
Marion High School
● Improve technology proficiency.● Determine what the PLC model looks like for
MHSAP.● Implementing the new Learning Plan/Professional
Development Management System.● Align our program offerings with current needs.
