School Council hosted a Teacher and Staff Appreciation Lunch on January 24th. This lunch was well-received by the teachers and support staff. Thank you to Tesoro Authentically Italian for catering the event. Check them out at www.facebook.com/TesoroAuthenticallyItalian. Our local Davids Tea in McKenzie Towne generously donated tea for the Appreciation Lunch. Thank-you for your community support!
Thank-you to Cheryl Schneider for her help organizing the tea donation and helping me set up and clean up and thank you to the parent volunteers who supervised the students during their lunch break. This allowed all teachers and support staff to enjoy the lunch!

FAMILY EVENT – Winter Luau!!!
ALOHA!!!
A phenomenal turn-out of over 400 people attended this year’s Winter Luau sponsored by School Council on January 19th. Dancers of all ages were treated for a second year in a row to the incredible sounds of crowd pleaser, DJ Squiggly Sounds, David Hanishewski. A unique surprise Polynesian dance performance by the lovely and gracious ladies from Pearls of Polynesia featured audience participation, warrior cries, the hukilau and our own Mr. Gratton! We also received visits from special guests: Moana and Swoop the Eagle! Other highlights include: the delicious Pina Coladas, the prize patrol, limbo lines, door prizes and sweet prize treats for Best Costumes generously donated by The Jolly Goods Candy Shop in McKenzie Towne.
School Council would like to say MAHALO (THANK YOU) to the amazing, dedicated and simply wonderful volunteers who helped plan this Family Event and a HUGE MAHALO to the students and parents who showed up and got things done! These events can’t happen without your valuable time and boundless energy! Thank you to everyone who came out for the evening and made this event such a success!

The 2018 District Day with the Calgary HitmenJoin our Calgary Catholic community for our annual District Day with the Calgary Hitmen! All students, staff, family and friends are invited to cheer on the Hitmen as they face off against the Edmonton Oil Kings on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 7 p.m. at the Saddledome. There’s something for everyone at this Lunar Celebration game with face-painters, glow-sticks, school mascots, for-tune cookie prizes, dragon dancers and post-game fireworks. Tickets are only $12 and $2 from every ticket, as well as 50/50 sales, goes back to our schools through the Calgary Catholic Education Foundation. The Foundation provides additional funds for enhanced learning opportunities for our students. Learn more on our website under News.
Kindergarten RegistrationAll CCSD elementary schools offer a half-day kindergarten program. Depending on total kindergar-ten enrolment, schools may offer a choice of morning or afternoon classes on a first-come, first-served basis. To register for kindergarten in September 2018, children must turn four years old on or before March 1, 2018. Your child’s birth certificate is required at the time of registration. High School Open HousesCalgary Catholic School District high schools host annual open house nights in January and Febru-ary to provide prospective students and their parents the opportunity to learn more about district high schools and the programs offered. Evening Credit CoursesThe Calgary Catholic School District offers a variety of Evening Credit Courses in semester II (February–June 2018). These courses are available to all high school students, as well as adult learners. Courses will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 to 8 p.m. To learn more or to register, please visit the CCSD website under Students/Academic Support/Evening Credit Courses.

ADULT CONFIRMATION Were you baptized Catholic, received First Communion as a child, but were never Confirmed? Adults who have not yet received the Sacrament of Confirmation are invited to register for adult preparation for Confirmation at St. albert the Great Church. parking lot on Friday, February 9th from 8:00
am-8:30 am or 2:30 pm -3:30 pm, or Saturday,
February 10th from 9:30 am-12:00 pm. All
grade nines, please come Saturday, February
10th to the school parking lot at 9:30 am. You
will be organized into groups with maps, a
driver, and a truck to go collect bottles from the neighborhood. All proceed will go
towards organizing the celebration and subsidizing the cost of tickets. We need
volunteers to help with the drive. If you have a truck or can volunteer for the drop off
times on Friday or Saturday please contact Heidi Duncan, at [email protected].
