Jason’s problem•Jason was considered to be a big shot

in his school because he was on the football team and he was really talented at the sport.

•He enjoys going to parties with his friends and likes getting drunk.

•When jason was at a party a week before a big football game, lisa saw him drinking several beers in his car.

Jason’s problem 2•After lisa saw this, she went to the

football coach, coach wilson, and told him what she had seen at the party.

•coach wilson had reason to believe the allegations, but i believe he blew it off because he wanted jason in the game and didn’t want him in trouble.

•The coach says there isnt enough proof.

Jason’s problem 3

•after several weeks, coach wilson started to notice alcohol on jason’s breath DURING practice and his attitude started becoming negative.

•even though much proof was apparent, jason’s problem still went unnoticed.

jason’s problem 4

•during the big game about a week later, jason hurt his knee and was rushed to the hospital.

•when he got to the hospital they did blood work and found he had a BAC of .05%.

•this injury revealed jason’s problem to the coach, and will have a greatly negative effect on his college scholarship.

•Jason’s parents were very upset and coach wilson was infuriated.

•his parents filed a lawsuit against the coach because he knew about the problem and said nothing. they argued he could have been severely injured, and his college scholarship could be lost.

jason’s mother•his mother believes coach wilson has

full responsibility for jason and his problem.

•she is very surprised when she finds out about his drinking problem because the coach knew and said nothing.

•his mother states that coach only cared about the sport, and not the acedemics or children’s health.

Lisa’s side

•lisa saw jason drinking and addressed the problem to the coach. The coach still didnt take action.

•this supports the jason’s case because it proves that the coach knew about the problem.

Jon’s side•Jon Baldwin is a student on the

football team and he states that the football players get special treatment and can get away with more.

•this helps support the case because mrs. hunt states that coach wilson did not pay attention to school rules and did not care.

Coach Wilson’s Attorney

•states that it is more of a family issue and is not the responsibility of the school to help with parent-child relationships.

•states coach wilson is not responsible for his the injuries, because injuries happen all of the time, especially during football games.

Related and Applicable laws

•it is unlawful for any person under the age of 21 to consume alcohol.

•in order to sue someone for negligence the plaintiff must prove the defendant had responsibility that he or she did not meet.

•the defendant does not have to know in which particular way a person will be injured as long as they feel they will be.

related and applicable laws 2•an action is considered foreseeable

if a person of ordinary intelligence could see that an action was possible.

•there may be a duty to control someone that is not your child if you have a special relationship with that person and are aware that the person may be in danger.

Conclusion

•i believe that coach wilson is guilty because of all of the laws listed in the previous two slides. coach wilson knew he was drinking even though it is illegal he said nothing about it. if jason was smelling like alcohol it was obvious he was drinking and coach should have taken him out of the game.
