HelenhasperformedandpresentedthroughouttheU.S.andinCanada,Italy,England,France,Hungary,Turkey,Germany,Lithuania,Estonia,Australia,NewZealand,China,S.Korea,Taiwan,andRussia.ShehasrecordedonGasparo,Centaur,andAuditerecordlabelswithherhusband,concertclarinetistArthurCampbell.Theirrecording,MusicforClarinetandPiano,wasnominatedforthe2013InternationalClassicalMusicAwards,oneofthemostprestigiousdistinctionsavailabletoclassicalmusicianstoday.ShehasalsorecordednumerouseducationalpianoCDsforStargrassRecords®,andhaspremieredmanynewworksbycontemporarycomposers.

Dr.MarlaisreceivedherD.M.inpianoperformanceandpedagogyfromNorthwesternUniversity,herM.F.A.inpianoperformancefromCarnegieMellonUniversity,andwasawardedtheOutstandingAlumnaintheArtsfromtheUniversityofToledo,whereshereceivedherBachelorofMusicinpianoperformance.

WHYPIANO PEDAGOGY?Whetheryouarestartingtobuildyourstudioorhavebeenteachingfordecades,thiscertificationprogramcantakeyourteachingtothenextlevel.Theprogram,taughtby Dr.HelenMarlais,will:

• enablepianomajorsandteachersto focusontheskillsnecessaryforsuccessfulteaching;

• equipstudentswiththeoreticalknowledge andpracticalexperiencesinaccordancewithstateandnationalpianoteachingguidelines;

• sharebest-practicepedagogyskillsto instructbeginner,intermediate,and early–advancedstudents;

• explorethepedagogybehindteachingtechnique,musicianship,and readingskills;

• developskillsforselectingrepertoire;

• demonstratehowtomotivateandhowtoencourageeffectivepracticehabits;and
