    CCS SCHOLARSHIPS

    The Robert M. and Muriel R. Barksdale Memorial Endowed Scholarship, established by Barksdale Warrior Paper Company and the Barksdale family, honors the memories of Muriel R. Barksdale and Robert M. Barksdale and promotes distance education programs at The University of Alabama. Priority is given to students enrolled in academic programs facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies at The University of Alabama who are 25 or older, who graduated from high schools in West Alabama, and who demonstrate satisfactory academic progress. 2013-2014 Recipient: Judy Sims, Tuscaloosa, Alabama

    The Dorothy D. and John Joseph Boyne Endowed Support Fund, established by Dorothy D. Boyne promotes the education of outstanding students pursuing degrees in public service facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies. Recipients must be a resident of Alabama, of junior or senior standing, and demonstrate academic excellence and leadership qualities.

    2013-2014 Recipient: Candance Johnson, Waller, Texas

    The William E. Bright Endowment for the Support of Natural Gas Program and Scholarships, established by the William E. Bright family, friends, and the Alabama Natural Gas Association, is awarded to employees of member companies or their dependent children. A recipient must demonstrate academic excellence and possess outstanding leadership qualities. 2013-2014 Recipients: Marshal Mason, Sheffield, Alabama Sarah Outlaw, Birmingham, Alabama Raley Sittason, Hartselle, Alabama 2014-2015 Recipients: Marshal Mason, Sheffield, Alabama Michael Outlaw, Birmingham, Alabama Sarah Outlaw, Birmingham, Alabama Madeline Sittason, Hartselle, Alabama

    The James C. Caldwell Endowed Scholarship, established by Cavalier Homes in honor of their friend and co-worker, James C. Caldwell, promotes continuing education to students from Winston and Marion counties. Secondary consideration is given to students who are enrolled in academic programs through the College of Continuing Studies. 2013-2014 Recipients: Patrick Cashion, Hamilton, Alabama Shameka Garner, Jackson, Mississippi

    The General Charles G. Cleveland Maxwell Air Force Base Endowed Scholarship, established by Lieutenant General Charles G. Cleveland and friends, promotes the education of deserving students enrolled in academic programs facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies. Preference for the scholarship is given to members of the U.S. Armed Forces.

    2013-2014 Recipient: Jason Perry, Tuscaloosa, Alabama

    The Carolyn and Dennis Dahl Endowed Scholarship, formerly the College of Continuing Studies Scholarship, established by the College and our Board of Visitors in 2004, is funded primarily by proceeds from the College of Continuing Studies Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament and Board of Visitors annual contributions. Scholarships from this fund are awarded to deserving adult students of the College who demonstrate a genuine desire to prepare themselves for the future through continuing education. 2013-2014 Recipients: Emerald Autrey, Northport, Alabama Joseph Barrett, Joppa, Maryland Melanie Carden, Moody, Alabama Cameron Graham, Honolulu, Hawaii Coasta Moss, Auburn, Alabama Amy Stone, Cloudland, Georgia

    2014-2015 Recipients: Sally Biesinger, Robertsdale, Alabama Sarah Boyce, Gibsonia, Pennsylvania April Lanci, Southside, Alabama Elizabeth Medlock, Marianna, Arkansas

    The External Degree-New College Life Track Society Endowed Scholarship, established by membership dues and other gifts from graduates and students of the External Degree Program, is awarded to deserving students enrolled in the New College LifeTrack Program, formerly the External Degree Program.

    2013-2014 Recipient: Andrew Webber, Huntsville, Alabama

    The Gladys M. Fernandez Endowed Scholarship for Single Parents, established by Rudy Fernandez to promote the education of students in the College of Continuing Studies. Priority consideration is given to students who are enrolled in academic degree programs facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies and who are the custodial single parents primarily responsible for the care and development of children who are living at home and are under the age of 18.

    The Connie B. Glaze Memorial Endowed Scholarship, established by the Glaze family, the College of Continuing Studies staff, and Tuscaloosa business associates in memory of Connie Glaze who was an employee of the College of Continuing Studies until her untimely death, supports clerical staff employed with the College of Continuing Studies who are pursuing their education at The University of Alabama. 2013-2014 Recipients: Rhonda Hester, Gordo, Alabama Latitia Mayfield, Tuscaloosa, Alabama

    2014-2015 Recipients: Tara Campbell, Tuscaloosa, Alabama Amanda Harvell, Tuscaloosa, Alabama

    The Joel D. Hammond/Big River Inc. Endowed Scholarship, established by Board member Joel D. Hammond and Big River Industries, Inc., promotes the education of deserving students enrolled in academic degree programs facilitated through the New College LifeTrack Program, formerly the External Degree Program. Priority is given to students who are either employees or dependents of employees of Big River Industries, located in Marietta, Georgia. Secondary consideration shall be given to other students enrolled in other academic degree programs facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies who are either employees or dependents of employees of Big River Industries. 2013-2014 Recipients: Amelia Kimber, Kershaw, South Carolina Stephanie Williams, Gadsden, Alabama Karen Workman, Talladega, Alabama

    The Jack and Audrey Hatmaker Memorial Endowed Scholarship, established by Board member Billy L. Hatmaker and his wife Barbara M. Hatmaker, in memory of his parents, Jack and Audrey Hatmaker, is awarded to students who are residents of the state of Alabama and are pursuing business degrees in programs facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies. 2013-2014 Recipients: April Benton, Warner Robins, Georgia Stacy Bowen, Ashland, Alabama
