Also, Southampton’s Business School is offering scholarships of £5,000 and £3,000 to students from Latin America who have beenoffered a place on one of the School’s MSc programmes starting October 2013. To qualify for one of the scholarships you must meet all the entry requirements and hold a GPA of 8.5 and 8.

For Colombian students University of Southampton, Leicester & Swansea have have formed a consortium to develop research collaborations and partnerships with Colombian institutions. This will include staff and student exchanges, shared symposia and conferences, and the creation of joint research projects.

To strengthen the collaboration, and to support Colombian students to study in the UK for a research degree, the consortium intends to work in partnership with Colciencias – the Colombian body for science, innovation and technology - to provide:

• Research scholarships, each worth 15% of tuition fees per annum, for each year of full-time registration, inclusive of bench fees where applicable.• Up to six weeks of English language training for research students, whose standard of English does not meet the entry requirement for their programme of study.• A limited number of £5,000 tuition fee scholarships for new research students selected by Colciencias. These will be for each year for up to three years of full-time registration.

Collaborations will in the first instance concentrate on the following Colombian priority areas:

• Engineering;• Nano-technology;• Social Sciences and Humanities, with an explicit focus on pressing social and cultural issues, such as conflict resolution, urban conservation and human rights;• Biodiversity, climate change, biotechnology, natural products and sustainability;• Earth sciences and GIS; and• Medicine, Life Sciences and Health.
