Scholarship & Internship Program
Choose New Jersey has launched Smart Students Choose New Jersey, a scholarship and internship program created for the highest
academically ranked graduating seniors who choose a New Jersey college or university for their post-secondary education. In response
to statistics showing annually that 30,000 of New Jersey’s students are seeking their college education out-of-state, we wanted to
design an opportunity that allows students to bolster their connection with New Jersey and encourage them to begin their professional
careers at home. Through our collaboration efforts with the State’s colleges and universities, we hope to encourage our students – our
future leaders and innovators – to remain in New Jersey for both personal and professional purposes.
ELIGIBLE STUDENTS
The highest academically ranked graduating high school senior
from each eligible Newark and Camden area schools, who
graduated in 2016 and chose a New Jersey college or university.
SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT
$2,000 ―received August 2016
INTERNSHIP
Each student will be offered a paid summer internship with
a participating business for three consecutive years (after
freshman, sophomore and junior years).
Students may opt to intern at a different company each summer,
or remain at the same company for all three years, based on
interest and performance.
INTERNSHIP PROGRAM MANAGEMENT
Choose New Jersey staff will match each student to a
participating business based on their interests and academics.
