Amarillo Area Foundation Scholarships The following scholarships are offered through the Amarillo Area Foundation. Amarillo Area Foundation scholarships are restricted to residents of the 26 northernmost counties of the Texas Panhandle, (unless otherwise noted). A student will be considered for all scholarships with the completion of one general application. All applications must include:

(a) Proof of U.S. citizenship, (birth certificate), or legal permanent residence status.

(b) Official high school transcript with senior year, 1st semester grades included.

(c) College transcript (if you’ve taken or are currently taking dual credit classes).

(d) ACT and/or SAT scores (if not printed on back of transcript).

• If you take the ACT and SAT and choose to list both test scores, be sure you upload documentation for both, as you will be awarded points for your highest of the two scores. If you take both and only choose to submit your highest score, you do not have to provide further documentation as long as your highest score is on your transcript.

(e) Current year (2018) IRS Tax Form 1040 showing the adjusted gross income. If your 2018 tax form is not available and you attach the 2017, you need to type out an explanation why you had to use the 2017 instead of the 2018, otherwise, you application will not be accepted.

(f) Two letters of recommendation. One must be from a teacher you had in high school.

The deadline for all applications to be received in the Amarillo Area Foundation office is February 14th by NOON. No late applications will be

THE DEADLINE IS NOT NEGOTIABLE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE!

The Foundation’s scholarship application is online and can be accessed in early November at the following website:

91

AMARILLO AREA FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP NOTES: SENIORS: The Amarillo Area Foundation scholarship portal will open in early November. Also note the following:

• USE INTERNET EXPLORER when filling out the application so you will not have possible functionality issues, such as uploading files.

• Students’ username is going to be your personal email address, not your school email

address as your school email will be turned off after graduation. Please keep your email address up to date with the Foundation as ALL correspondence is done via email (such as award notification emails, verification/renewal emails etc.) so if your email address is not kept current you could potentially not get important emails that could result in scholarship forfeiture.

• If you submit your application and the transcript does not include grades for the first semester of 2019, your application will be considered incomplete and therefore you will not qualify for any scholarships.

• Once an application has been submitted, it can’t be un-submitted so make sure all

attachments are correct and all questions are answered. If you choose to not answer a question that is not required, it could potentially not match you to a certain scholarship so consider answering all questions.

The deadline is BY NOON on February 14th. The system will automatically shut off at noon.

The deadline for the 2019-2020 scholarship is the 2nd Friday in February, BY NOON, however, we recommend you apply early and submit your application and all supporting documentation at least a week prior. Last year, Amarillo lost electricity the morning of the deadline and students who waiting until the last minute to submit were not able to access their website and upload their information. They allowed the students to submit, but the deadline was within a few hours of them gaining electricity and students were scrambling to get everything uploaded. DO NOT EVER WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE --- STUFF HAPPENS!

Application must include ALL documentation or it will be rejected.
