SCHENGEN STATES

• There are 3 categories of Schengen Visas:– Type A (direct-airside transit only)– Type C (short-term stay or transit)– Type D (long-term stay or residence)

Note : There is no Visa-on-Arrival (VOA) facilities in any of the Schengen States

New Schengen Visas (that are issued effective APR 2010)

• TYPE A (Airside Transit Visa)

- nationals that are not allowed to TWOV must be in possession of this visa in order to transit e.g. (India, Afghanistan, Congo, Sri Lanka etc.)

-must remain in transit and no double-transit with this visa

TYPE C– short-term visit visa for tourist or business purpose

– also issued for ‘Transit’ through Schengen and allowed to clear immigration and travel within the Schengen States (limited to max. 15 days)

– once inside a Schengen State, the national will also get free access to the other Schengen States.

• Check the start and end date of the visa

• Number of entries.– In single-entry visa, check that it had not been used on

a previous trip, by checking on the Immigration stamp on passport page near visa

Returning “LABOR IMMIGRANTS” To Greece are NOT allowed to Transit in any Schengen States

“Returning Labour Immigrants to Greece”, must travel directly into Greece and not allowed to transit via any Schengen States
