Bulletin BoardGlenville eiG SeekS MeMberSGLENVILLE - The Town of Glenville Efficiency in Govern-ment (EIG) Committee is looking for new members. The EIG Committee was established by the Glenville Town Board with the goal of enlisting the assistance of town resi-dents in studying and making recommendations concern-ing efficiency in government. Committee members are ap-pointed by the Town Board to serve one-year terms with the possibility of reappointment. Terms run from January 1 to December 31. The EIG Committee meets on the second Friday of each month at noon for about 1 ½ hours. If you are interested in serving on the committee, please go the Town of Glenville website at www.townofglenville.org. Un-der the Town Links section on the left side of the webpage, select Forms and then download the Volunteer Interest Form. Follow the instruction for filling out and submitting the form. As one of its priorities for 2014 the EIG Commit-tee has been asked to help the town evaluate and respond to some energy and infrastructure improvement opportuni-ties. Therefore, EIG Committee is particularly interested in attracting volunteers who have an engineering background or energy management knowledge and abilities. The award is intended for a student planning to become a music teacher or other ca-reer in music. REXFORD - On Wednesday, March 5th, at 12 noon, the first of seven Lenten Luncheons will take place. These luncheons are spon-

sored by the Faith Baptist Church, 11 Glenridge Road in Rexford. The public is encouraged to attend these lun-cheons which will continue weekly, each Wednesday until March 27th. Lunch is served at noon, with a suggested donation for the meal, with a special speaker each week. For example, if you got a letter or notice from the IRS that you don’t understand or a bill from the IRS that you don’t think you owe or that you can’t pay, or if you were denied an Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) you thought you should have gotten, we may be able to help. The EITC could reduce your tax bill or even get you a re-fund if you qualify. You may be able to get the EITC if you have qualifying children and your earned income falls under a certain limit. This limit ranges from $37,870 up to $51,567 in 2013 depending on your filing status and num-ber of children. Workers without children who had 2013 incomes below $14,340 ($19,680 for a married couple fil-ing jointly) may also receive a very small EITC benefit. To qualify, a child must live with you for more than half the year. A son or daughter, grandchild, younger brother or sister, or niece or nephew, may be a qualifying child. The child must be younger than 19 (or 24 if they are a full time student) or permanently and totally disabled. Only one person can claim a child for EITC each year. Other age, residence, and filing requirements must be met. You must file a tax return and claim the credit to get the EITC, even if you don’t otherwise have to file. If the IRS denies your claim for the EITC and you don’t understand why, you may want to talk to an accountant or an attorney. mentor you would spend time with and get to know your student, while developing a relationship that provides sup-port and guidance. If you are looking for some meaningful volunteer work, this may be for you. This program focuses not as much on job skill mentoring, but more on providing a positive role model in the student’s life. You will help the student to develop core values and “encourage young women to discover their dreams, to believe in endless pos-sibilities while empowering them to make it happen”.
