Youth News

“Sharing God’s Story for 125 Years”

At the Northwest Texas Annual Conference meeting every June, the Bishop awards individuals who have shown exemplary skills in the field of evangelism a special award. Our church has been blessed to have several members and

pastors win this award.

Richard Bales who was our pastor in the 1990s won this award in 1993 for representing our church and our conference when he and his wife Noreen went to the Annual Conference of Methodists in Pakistan where Richard was the

featured preacher.

After beginning his ministry as the youth director at FUMC, Curtis House was appointed pastor of the Happy UMC. While leading the Happy congregation, the church increased in membership and attendance and was recognized for the members’ ministry to their community (following a tornado in Happy) and building an outreach ministry to cowboys in

Happy.

This year, Bishop Earl Bledsoe presented Mikey Littau and the West Texas A&M Wesley Foundation with this most

prestigious award.

Bishop Bledsoe will be coming to Canyon to help us celebrate our 125th anniversary at a special worship service

on October 12, 2014.
