Staff Anniversaries

Greetings! I hope that all is well in your life and that you are finding great joy in seeking after our Creator. The other day Anna Grace and I had the opportunity to go out to Palo Duro Canyon to go hiking. She has never been

out to the lighthouse, so I invited her to try and attempt the hike with me. The hike out to the lighthouse is around 6 miles round trip, which does not include the hike up on top of the large structure. Needless to say this a great length for a 5 1/2 yr old! I was amazed at how strong my daughter was to hike 2 miles before finally allowing me to carry her to the base of the lighthouse. She then hiked all the way up to the

lighthouse (where we had lunch) and then all the way back down. I carried her on my shoulders on our 3 mile journey back to the car. On our walk back I told her I was proud of her for reaching the lighthouse to which she responded in equal excitement about reaching her goal. I truly believe that my daughter had the goal of reaching the lighthouse in her heart, which is what gave her the ability to press on. I believe that as she saw the large goal she became even more excited and willing to press forward. I believe that because she had me (her father) with her she was able to press on and do more than she thought capable. Why do I tell you this? Read Hebrews 12:1-3. This passage has a whole new meaning to me after our hike and I would imagine you can relate. Many times in our lives we feel like giving up, but if we will fix our eyes on Jesus, know that the Holy Spirit is with us and

that our Creator is walking with us we can travel extraordinary lengths. Be blessed, Tyler Looney

Thank You Notes Geraldine Parks called wanting to say “Thank You” to her church family for all the Christmas notes and cards that were sent to her. She also just had a birthday on February 2nd and received many birthday wishes, notes and cards. She wants everyone to know how much her church family means to her and how much she misses everyone here. She is so very thankful for this

wonderful church family

and hopes that for her next birthday, she can celebrate it here with all of

you.

Trike-a-Thon raises $6,537.60 for 2014

The ‘In His Hands’ preschool Trike-a-Thon, held on Feb. 4th and 5th, raised $6,537.60 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. In nine years of sponsoring this event, ‘In His Hands’ preschool has raised over $30,000. Thank you to all who

helped with this fantastic achievement!

“Sharing God’s Story for 125 Years”

In December, 1922, the Quarterly Conference Report stated that a resolution had been approved to construct a new building at the location convenient for both the congregation and the WT student body; this site was at 1818 Fourth Avenue. The Building Committee was Pastor M. M. Beavers, Chairman, C. W.

Warwick, John Guthrie, S. B. Orton, and G. G. Foster.

In February, 1925, the first service was held in the new red brick building at 1818 Fourth Avenue. More than 500 people attended

Sunday School and more than 550 attended the worship service.

“The Call: Living Sacramentally, Walking Justly”

Study led by Pam Zwickey & brought to you by the

FUMC Canyon unit of United Methodist Women

Join us as we explore the meaning and relevance of the

sacraments in our changing world. Communion and baptism are

so much more than just rituals that we do. As we explore ways

to “live sacramentally”, we will also learn how to “walk justly” as

Scripture teaches. According to John Wesley, sacramental living

expresses itself in works of mercy.

All are welcome to this exciting study!
